Where is this dock you speaketh of?!?!?!
A lady fishing from the bank caught a 10 pounder LM on Dale Hallow
A young angler caught a 10+ from yatesville
My father has caught (3) 9 pounders fishing Barkley...over a 20+ year period. He has caught a 10 pounder in Christian Co (private lake). from the some private lake that holds the crappie record in Ky.!!!!
Believe it or not but a guy I know caught a 10+ from McNeely Lake...
I had heard that a while back there was an electro-fishing survey done on McNeely and that they shocked up a fish around 14#. I heard that really got people fishing out there a lot and put a lot of pressure on that small lake. Does anyone know if what I was told is true. It came from a pretty reliable source, but you know how rumors can get started and spread like wildfire. Just wondering if anybody could recall that happening. I do know for a fact that a small park lake not too far from my house (Tom Wallace)has some really nice bass in it. I guess the stocking of rainbows has really helped the bass grow big. There are quite a few large carp, cats, bass, and 'gills but they are difficult to catch. The water is almost always really clear and it gets lots of fishing pressure, so the fish spook real easy.
Caught a 10 even back in April @ woodscreek. Its the biggest one i know of that has been caught there this year. The fish was 25 1/2 inches long and its eyes were 23 mm.
I have seen several 9's come out of woodscreek. Matter of fact about 2 year ago we had 3 come out in one tourny all by different guys late in September. More likely to catch one out of Woodscreek than anywhere in my opinion.
Tom Wallace does have some nice bass in it. I was down there a few years back and cought three that went over 3# in the course of one afternon. Not to bad for the small drop of water that that lake is. It seems though that that lake is only productive at one very precise time of year. Most of the time the bass are inaccessable because you are limited to shoreline fishing,k often at strange angles.
I've heard several good things about McNeely. Most folks dont want to do the hiking to get to where the fish are at. Additionally most people paractice catch an release on the bass. This coupled with the amount of presure that this lake gets and it has produced a "smart" fish, a very easily soopked fish who have seen, and been cought on, practically every bait known to man. There are definately some good fish in there, but I doubt that any go even close to 10#. I'm sure that anything that has come out of there close to 7# has ended up on someones wall.
..... Great discussion and question I might add.
Keep on chuckin'
Do you fish the woodscreek tourney? My name is jonas ertel. I alternate on thursdays between the creek and holly bay. Also fish flatwoods on tuesday on occasion and the holly bay tourney on saturday. Just wondering if i had seen you. Fish out of a black 93 nitro.
My name is Mike Bowles .I fished the tuesday night out of flatwoods. I fished with my partner in his 21 ft norris craft. Work changed my schedule and so I work thru the week now but looks like My schedule just might allow me to get started again. Was looking to fish thursday nights but was told that the person who runs the tourny quit having it. If it is still going on I would like to get in on the action. Been a real bummer the last 3 weeks not being able to get out there. I met your partner but didn't get around to meet you and didn't see you all at the weigh in the last time I was there. Let me know about the Thurday nighters out of the bay and the time it starts. Fished Woodscreek with just a few guys that get together from work. 6 or 7 boats just something to do mainly.
Mike evans told me about the dc thing. hmmm. DC basser...I guess you work at walmart dc. I too work for walmart, but in produce at the london store. Me and my patner both work there. The tournament at the bay is from 7-12 on thursday nights. This will be the 3rd tournament on a 8 week rotation for the nect fish-off. John sargent and some other guy run it. Mike hensley and jason profitt from laurel outdoors fish it. Its 30 per boat. The one on saturday is a dandy too, about 30 boats there the last time i fished.I still havent made up my mind on where to fish the woodscreek tourny or the bay one thursday night. I do know im fishin the one on saturday.
Ihave one on my wall that came from green april 18 1989.the guy at taylor county dock told me i should put her back, but i was only 16 and a 6lber was biggest i had caught plus i didn't know much about catch and release sorry. it was 10lb07 oz.the lake was way above pool and got 2 bites all day the other was 8 inches maybe, threw my spinner bait by a flooded sycamore tree, that is still there just bigger, and started eating my sandwich took a few bite picked up my pole and she was on it,talk about luck.
That would be me. 10 years running. Will try to get down there this weekend with Sevier and get back on track. Me and Evans have fished together for the last two years until they changed my shift. Any monsters being caught out of Woodscreek? With the cool weather and the water cooling down should start seeing some of those 7 to 9 pound giants come out of there this fall. Never caught one but have seen several ........three 9 lb fish in a tourny couple of years ago.
