RE: College Smash-Mouth Bass Official Press Release
Hey Scott,
Some company makes a carolina rig jig. It is a jig for the weight, and the line passes through the jig just like it would on an egg sinker. I bought several of these to use at Barkley, if you were to go skin diving, you would find them all!!!!!!!!
They don't come through cover at all. I never caught a fish on the jig, but then this past spring was really the first time I missed fish with my bait line moving away. In other words, this is really the first year I've ever considered that I may have had a fish with my weight in its mouth.
BTW, I fish a CR about 85-90% of the time.

Well Danny, I wondered if that might be a problem. However, if it catches fish, I reckon it might be worth it. But still that can get expensive! For your sinker, do you use steel? Tungsten? Lead? I used to be all about some lead, but after using the steel I'm hooked! Never tried tungsten, seems like the smaller size of it would be a disadvantage. Any thoughts?

Na I meant a Carolina rig and a jig also. I've seen those jig weights don’t impress me. I use tungsten like the smaller profile I have had a couple of spots just grab the weight and I'd set the hook and reel em to the boat, don’t get how they do that but they see the boat and just let go. I like the idea of a smaller profile even if it doesn’t make a difference.

I actually like the bulky steel weights, seems like the rounded shape "rolls" over the rocks rather than wedging in them. Just my preference.....

I certainly prefer the tungsten!!!! Much more sensitive. I also like the smaller weight. However, the best thing I think is the cylindrical shape. I also use the steel or lead sinkers, egg shaped, just because they are so much easier to find around here.

I use the long cylindrical lead sinkers, they dont look the prettiest coming through the water but they dont hang up as much, they seemed to do the trick to beat RC5's butt last weekend. HAHAHAHA. Actually we filled a quick limit on the rig but ended up culling all day on the jig. You taking this down richard?
