RE: National radio mentions Barkley cheaters
Unless these guys admit under oath that they cheated in those other tournaments, how are they going to convict? Just because they won a bunch of money and a boat doesn't mean they cheated in ALL of the other tournaments. It's just possible and probable that they did, but has anybody said anything until they were caught in the last one? Any proof? I think the prosecutors are just piling it on to try to ensure they can ge a conviction on at least one count.

Exactly. It's this curious thing that few seem to have heard of in this country. It's called a legal system that considers all to be innocent before proven guilty in a court of law.

The best punishment would be a year in Eddyville Prison with a window seat. Let them look out the window and think about how good they had it while watching the bassboats wizz by and Bubba climbing on top. That won't happen since Eddyville isn't exactly for these types of criminals, but that would be nice. I have a feeling they would be safer in there than on the water these days.
RE: National radio mentions Barkley cheaters
I read that one of them admitted to the State Police that they had cheated in every event for the last two years. This is hard to believe, that someone would be that stupid, but that is what I read. Innocent until proven guilty is a nice theory.
RE: National radio mentions Barkley cheaters
The law broken, trapping bass is legal for food, not legal for any other means, like you can't cage a dear for torture (no food or safety), maybe they don't need jail time lawgawg but should never be able to buy a fishing liscense or fish any tx's ever agian, but not every club keeps track of convicted people, and yes not all will know(slight chance), but enough will. I'm glad Paul mentioned it, we had a tx the same day it happened and was hoping no one in our event was the convicted, but hoped more that it never happened at all., like I said before, we all work very hard for our catch, these people come in and cheat and may get away with a few of them, but thank the lord above justice is served.

"It's called a legal system that considers all to be innocent before proven guilty in a court of law." That quote may be true for criminals, but it sure as hell ain't for civil matters. I spent 9 days on trial in January (for so called medical malpractice) and you are guilty and good luck proving your innocense in those cases. Thank God it came out all right for me, but it cost me over 100 grandnand 3 1/2 + years of worry and no sleep. There is no justice in our courtrooms, it all ends up being the luck of the draw (juror-wise) and who can hire the best liar of a attorney. I know this ain't fishing related, but bet the 2 guys will have to turn over all their tourney winnings including the boat, will have a couple years probation each, no fishing for 3 years, no further tourneys ever and some civil service to pay....

I think jail time and I think their fishing licenses should be revoked for the rest of their stupid lives. I'd also like to see every single person that lost money to these idiots get a free shot to their teeth as in knock it down their throats.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-06 AT 10:56AM (EST)[p]Let get some facts right They were video taped putting fish in thier livewell by KDFW. Guilty no way out. They brought four of the five fish to the scales at the Relay for life tournament. Guilty They have never passed a polygraph test 1 no decision and 1 failed, but never passed one. We have been saying they have been cheating for 3 yeasrs along with some other very well known fishermen and women on KY and Barkley. We actually saw them not catch a fish all day in one tournament and weigh in 18 lbs. the only time we could not see them was when they went in a slip at KY Dam Marina for 10 min. Must have really been bitten!!!!!!!!!! Guilty in my eyes. They should get the maxium the law will allow 50 years or what ever. no license ever. Thank You Brian Crawford
For the sake of discussion.....
I actually believe these guys will be fishing tournaments again, in as little as the time it takes them to get fishing licenses back.
Why do I say this?
Within a couple of years, most won't remember what they look like. Most open tournaments don't require ID. Therefore, they simply sign up under an assumed name.
I say they can only be punished within the limits of the law. But I've lost so much money in tournaments, that everyone I know that fishes would have to be punished for me to get even with those that have taken my money!!! LMAO
