Could someone explain exactly how you fish this method. I've read these posts before and in my head I sit here and try to imagine what it looks like and for the life of me I have no idea how to do this. Thanks.

Color depends on the fish. I keep to the basis White, with Blue, Gray or Pink mixed in sometimes all 3. Depends on what mood they are in. My best luck last year was any color as long as Pink was part of the color. Even found 5 straight pink jigs at Punishers Store by Dale and caught several on them. This is just my OPINION, depth and presentation far out exceeds color, again just my OPINION. Trial and error on depth and presentation first then I play with color. I start with 1/16 oz then go down to 1/32 if it is SLOOOOOOW also use 4lb test line when it is really SLOOOOOOW.

A bunch of us get together every January @ Dale Hollow, used to be @ my place, but we have since sold it and now have resorted to renting a huge cabin to accomodate all of us. Billy has gotten quite adapt at fishing that contraption :) Every year he reels in a toad or two on it. I am still a hair jig kind of guy and have not yet resorted to sissy fishing. Rest assured though, this year that may change as I have purchased a sissy rod and all the trimmings.
We can't handle the entire board, but if a few of ya want to see what a real get together looks like, by all means let us know. We have live music every night and the BS that goes on is absolutely priceless :)

Ray, I'd be interested in doing something like that if there'll be room, my b-day is in Jan. and I was gonna have the misses get me guided trip to Dale, but this sounds more fun. I wouldn't care at all the share my boat with a couple of people.

So.......Do you keep up with those sissy rigs.......are you as consistent with the jig, or do they outfish you....
Just wondering, because I also prefer the hair jig to my friends sissy equipment, but on one really CRAPPY day a couple years ago, those sissy rigs kicked my butt.
I would say the guys fishing fnf, vs jigs, vs live bait rigs all have similar results........but on that day, it was a WHOLE different ballgame.

An old "standby" method of Crappie fishing, the FnF has been adopted by the Bass fishing crowd - with great success. Here's a couple of links that help explain the basics:

>>>note - In this article, guide Jim Duckworth talks about "why" Bass (in clear, cold water) are susceptible to this method. Duckworth has a FnF rod that he designed ... to be marketed by BnM Poles. It can be seen on the BnM website (http://www.bnmpoles.com/ffcs.html). I've been fieldtesting this rod for BnM, over the last couple of months. The rod has performed very well, for the techniques/methods I've used it for (casting/jigging for Crappie). I'm hoping to get a chance to put it to use on Smallmouth, this Nov at Watts Bar Lake.

I hope these articles will help you understand the basics of this method. Everyone tweaks the method to suit themselves, or the fish's mood, or the conditions they face. You will no doubt do the same ............ luck2ya ........cp
What kind of live music do you have? I have some buddies and we pick a little at deed camp. It adds a lot to the get together.
Geo, no I don't keep up with numbers, but I am rarely the little fish guy :) When I am not in a Tournament, I fish strictly for big fish, can go days sometimes without a bite, but boy when I get bit, it is usualy one that everyone say's, Holy Chit look at that toad!! :)
Jeremy, shoot me an e-mail and I will fill you in on details of our get togethers. It is not one to be missed thats for sure. Most of us were strangers drawn together from a couple message boards, untill we all met, now it is a yearly thing that we all look forward to. We have guys come from as far away as Pennsylvania. It is truly a sight to behold. There is always way to much alcohol consumed, there is way to much food that is not consumed. The guys are all worth the trip every year.
Jeff, most of the music is bluegrass and old country. Ole Billy (Redneck) picks a pretty good box. The coup d'gra though is Ron Sanders, a regular here and a couple other message boards. The songs he belts out makes ya take a double take just to make sure that voice is coming from that bucket head of his. We also have a couple Indiana boys who can lay it down as well.
The worst thing about our yearly get togethers? They end :(
