C-Land report

I have fished Cumberland 3 times in my life. Two of those times were club bass tournaments out of Louisville and we put in at the **** so I spent all my time at that end of the lake. I am going to be taking my boat down on Saturday morning to put it in a friends storage facility and I will doing a little fishing on Saturday morning. Will be using live bait to try and catch Stripers and Smallies. Where should I put in around Burnside (and maybe Burnside is the place to put in) and do you have any pointers on flats that I could try? Thanks.

My dad's place is at Grider Hill so we're on opposite ends of the lake. I know the stripers stack up thick on the North end in the spring when they go through their spawning migration, but I don't know how many stripers are up at the end now. I'm sure there's always a few; maybe someone else can chime in. Usually the lake patterns well so if they're feeding on main lake flats on the south end they should be doing the same on the North end. Sorry I can't help out much... good luck. Tim T reports success fishing deeper water over the channel too so it sounds like there's a few fish everywhere.

The ABA district 87 is going out of Burnside this Saturday. How is the ramp? Is it still under water? Need help! Too far for me to drive just to find out if I might need to move the launch site.

Pa went down yeasterdy and put in at burnside he said that the ram was fine. Just hope there it ant real slick in case off guys w/ bald tires. Me and Uncle Willow will see u in the morin.

i was just wondering how many fish you put in the boat. i know the feeling of losing big fish like that. i had one a couple years ago the first time i had my new boat out and it was in the mid 40's. the fish was hooked on the treble hook for my stinger rig i use in the river and my buddy went to put it in the cradle we use and knocked the hook out of it right after i told him to watch out for it. I didn't really mind that much because i release all my fish out of the river but would have been nice to have a pic of the fish i broke my boat in with.
Also did you seen any surface or hear of any yet?

Went to Cumberland last nite 7:30 pm to 7:00 am. Had been 25 to 30 smallmouth and spots. 1 largemouth 4+ 6 smallmouth 18 to 22 inchs. Real good night. Jigs on main lake points. From dam up to wolf creek. I caught the largemouth on the very first cast and everything went pretty well from there. Love them smallies.

Thanks for the report!!! I heading down after T'giving for a day and really want to fish the main lake. Where they holding pretty deep or around 10-15 foot??

Just wondering if the bite was all night, or if it was early, late, when was it? Thinking of going down tonight or tomorrow night. Did you hear any stripers on top? Thanks for any info.

I can speak for gettingonefishin since I was with him. The bite occured all night (with a couple of slow spots in between). Our last keeper smallmouth came 1/2 hr. after daylight. We did not here many stripers, however there was some surface action which we believe was either little brownfish or spots. Be forewarned, I went back Sat. night and did not do as well ( I believe due to the front moving thru). The fish had pulled off the bank and were suspended in about 10ft. of water. We finaly figured this out due to the fact that 3 out of the first 4 fish we caught hit the bait under the boat while we were reeling it in.

I appreciate the help. We've been going down in the mornings about once a week and the smallie bite has been pretty slow. Still catching those little spots, though. We'll be putting in around Wolf Creek area. Wondering if there's any places we might need to key on besides main points? Your info is really helpful and I apprecriate it. It sometimes will save a man about a $100 bill. Thanks again.
