RE: Falls of the Ohio
I am officially addicted to fishing at the Falls of the Ohio! Yesterday evening, I hooked into somethine HUGE! I was using my medium action spinning rod with 8 lb. test...it couldn't handle that monster of a fish! I don't know if it was a striper or catfish or what! I hooked into him and he started peeling off line like crazy! I did all I could to try and get him into the calm water, but he wouldn't budge! I ended up chasing him downstream for maybe a half mile and for half an hour. It was awesome! He finally got down into some rocks and sawed my line off. I was exhausted but still very excited to have done battle with him for as long as I did! I really believe it was a nice striper because there were stipers feeding where I hooked into him! I can't wait to go again tonight....I think I might up my line strength just in case it happens again!

I don't think it was a dead body because it was moving! It could have been a really big octopus!

I want your job. You work way to hard. If I was in Louisville I would go fish with you tonight.

RE: Falls of the Ohio
I'll be going again tonight! I'll probably go around 6:30 or 7:00 and fish until dark. Seems like from 6:30 until dark has been the prime feeding time.

RE: Falls of the Ohio
What are you catching them on? Where are you fishing? I fished it a couple of times back in the spring but the water was high and didn't do any good. I'd like to get after those stripers. I'm boatless this weekend so I'd like to do some fun bank fishing. I might try to hit it Sunday morning. Thanks, Ted

Were you on the bank or in a boat?

RE: Falls of the Ohio
I've been fishing from the bank all week. You have to walk around in the water to get to my favorite rock to fish from, but it's no more than knee deep. It's a blast! It's really funny too to watch other people down there fishing...I watched a young kid standing out in some strong current wearing the drum out! Everytime he caught one I thought it was going to pull him in!

Thanks I might see you down there tonight, good luck if you go. I know about the drum down there, I get into them with a jig sometimes they are alot of fun to catch.

RE: Falls of the Ohio
If you don't mind sharing, what are you catching them on most of the time? I'm thinking about going up early Sunday morning, maybe stop when it gets hot and hit Bass pro, then come back for the afternoon. Thanks for the help. Ted

RE: Falls of the Ohio
The best thing I've used has been a Storm WildEye Rippin' Shad (the 3" size). It has a treble hook that hangs below the bait that helps with those short strikes AND it gives way to the possibility of foul hooking something big! I foul hooked a cat Thursday that felt like a 30 lb monster due to the way it was hooked! For sauger, try some small white curly tail jigs (Storm makes some good ones pre-rigged that hang right next to the Rippin' Shad at Bass Pro). Those two baits are all that I've used and have had success with. I did see some other people catching fish on small silver spoons and in-line spinners.
GOOD LUCK!!! :)
