RE: A little different idea....
I went to Bass Pro in Jeffersonville, IN last night...checked out some rods while I was there. Had a slaes guy come up to me to offer assistance, etc...he was telling me that G-Loomis is now making the Shimano rods...so I go check out the Shimano rods he's talking about. He then proceeds to tell me that no matter what and for what ever reason if my Shimano rod were to break, get broken, stepped on, get caught in a window on it's way up or just what ever (no matter what), that if I bought one of these Shimano rods at Bass Pro, that Bass Pro will provide me with a full replacement no questions asked...he said I wouldn't even need a reciept, just bring it in and they'd replace right there on the spot.
The three Shimano rods he was showing were a Crucial, a Compre and a third one that I can't remember it's name. He said that even though you could tell a difference between these Shimano's and the G-Loomis rods, that you couldn't tell THAT MUCH of a difference. Anybody here have any experience with these Shimano rods I'm referring to? They're about a 100 bucks cheaper than the G-Loomis plus the warranty sounds good too. Any opinions?
RE: A little different idea....
I just won a comprea at our clubs classic. This rod feels like a very nice rod. I also have a few Gloomis rods i like them very much. You normally cant go wrong with shimano if the rods are as good as the reels you should be fine. Good luck to you
RE: A little different idea....
i have three shimano compre and a crucial, and like them very much. I cant imagine any rods more sensitive, or lighter weight. I guess the loomas rods are better. Or maybe its just a status thing. Ill stick with the shimano rods.
RE: Looking for a new rod.
I am on Pro Staff for RPM Rods. This rod is incredible. It is designed by Rick Morris. The Elite Pro that made the chatterbait famous by comming in 2nd in the classis. I would really like to show you these rods. Were are you located?
RE: A little different idea....
The sales guy is wrong. G-Loomis is owned by Shimano but they do not make the shimano rods, they have giving advice on how to make them better but they do not make them. I would make sure there is no charge, usally there is a 10-15 replacement fee, not sure on Bass Pro. If you fish once a month you may not be able to tell but if you fish quite a bit you can tell a difference especially on weight and feel.

I've got one of the crucial, and absolutely love it.
RE: Looking for a new rod.
Ok fellow fish heads...I appreciate everyone's input on this, between your all's input and my own investigations I've decided to get a Shimano Crucial...Thanks to everyone and also to who ever mentioned the deal regarding the 10.00 or 15.00 dollar fee to exchange a broken rod, I'm going to ask Bass Pro about that since that's where I'll most likely get the rod from.
Thanks again!
RE: Looking for a new rod.
you bought a great rod, i to have a cuucial and i just had to replace it,went to set the hook missed the fish and hit the trolling motor, broke the rod. Took it back to where i bought it and walked out with a new one no questions ask. good luck and watch out for them trolling motors....Happy huntin
RE: Looking for a new rod.
not sure on the mag worm.....do you twitch it?.....if so......do you twitch it with the rod down?....if so unless you are tall it will wear you out on a 7 foot rod.

RE: Looking for a new rod.
Guys not one person on here has mentioned Kistler rods.... Go look at a kistler and you will never have any other rod... and here are my reasonings behind that.... first off kistler rods are the lightest rods on the market EVER! the new HELIUM 2 that they just came out with is the lightest rod ever made! (its under three ounces) And even better then that to get a loomis thats even close to the same quality rod you have to spend alot more money the top of the line loomis are around $400.00, where as the HELIUM 2 rods sell for $329.99 .
And guys if your not in the market to spend that much money all you have to do is go down a step and get the regular HELIUM rods (this is the rods I use AND LOVE!) the helium rods are priced around $229.99. I have a buddy who also uses all Kistler rods and he found a great deal on a new priced $400.00 loomis and after using it for a day or two he wouldnt even touch it anymore... he put it in his rod box and sold it as soon as he got home! he and I both thought that the kistler helium rods where much lighter and felt better in your hand and you could feel the bottom better.....
And kistler even thought about the man not wanting to brake the bank with a new rod... they have the freshwater series rods priced around $129.99 they are great rods for the money you wont find a better rod for the money.... I personly would rather have the freshwater rods over a $400.00 loomis.... just my opion though.....now dont get me wrong there alittle heavier then the Helium rods but for the price point there still as light a rod as you will find for that kinda money.
oh one more thing... guys if you wanna feel a GREAT rod get a kistler Helium 2 rod and put a chronarch mg 50 on it... you wont believe what you have in your hands... the rod and reel together weigh what most reels alone weigh! the combo only weighs around 8.9 ounces.. now thats amazing in my mind... when you consider a regular chronarch weighs like 9.5 ounces.
hope this helps someone!
