RE: Countdown to 12 pounder has begun...
Ok Elwood, it looks like most people here are in agreement that your Elnut name fits you well...However, on the other hand (in Elwood's defense...cough, cough), it's been my past experience that when a fish is on the line during cold wet and drizzly conditions it tends to warm things up, or at least it makes you forget about it for awhile anyway.
Good luck to ya Elwood!....
P.S.
"Golf"???? I never would have guessed it.

Thats me with the 12 pounder in my jaws.
RE: Countdown to 12 pounder has begun...
I don't think running ACROSS Ky Lake in the dead of night with 4-6 footers coming at you, while I have both hands firmly grasped on the spotlight trying to keep in on the crossing bouys, all the time while wedging my legs against your boat trying to keep my BIG BEHIND in the boat, as you navigate us to the other side is not THRILLING, SCARED ****LESS, but not thrilling. Dave and I were night fishing up in a bay on the the LBL side of Ky last summer when, he noticed the tree tops start blowing in a different direction. It was around 2am and he said we better get back to the West side of KY where we launched for he thought it was going to get bad, even though there was no weather forecasted for that night. He idles out and sure enough, small whitecaps have started. We go up to the crossing channel to get over to Big Bear and as we begin to cross, these small whitecaps become BIG whitecaps then BIGGER whitecaps to the point that we are looking up at water as we are in between waves. I have to think that it took a good bit if not all of Dave's experience to navigate us across the channel that night. It was my first time experiencing KY Lake in that of a violent state and had been warned about it when I started fishing it in 2005. Take note of any rookies that plan on going to KY Lake, it is the most violent lake that I have ever fished, especially with a North or North North West wind. Be very careful for you are 3 waves from serious trouble, first wave turns you sideways, second wave fills you up and the third wave turns you over, after that you are on your own.

Count me in boys and girls on the FNF Big Fish of the year pool. I hope to have it locked up by the 3rd of December at the latest. I figure a 12 pounder will have a good shot of taking first prize.
I will put 5 - 1/16oz Punisher Duck Feather Jigs, 5 - 1/16oz Punisher Craft Hair Jigs, 4 - Bob's Bobbers (the real ones, not the ones I make), and a Bow to your Greatness in the prize pool for the biggest FNF smallie of the year.
Hopefully, my honey hole will give up a couple of 6 pounders again this year like last.

Golf??????, yes Golf and I used to be pretty good at it also. Got to where I could break 80 on a pretty regular basis, even shot 1 under 71 on Sportland Golf Course in Winchester about 12 years ago or so but, have only played 3 rounds total since 1997. 3 hernia operations plus a staff infection in my stomache which took 9 stays in the hospital and 4 more surgeries to fix plus 1 weight loss surgery all since 1997 will make a man give up anything that makes you bend and torque your mid-section. Went out fall of 2004 and hit a bucket of balls at the driving range and I think I actually got 3 to go in the direction that I wanted. All the rest were skulled, hooked, sliced, whiffed, rolled and every other way a guy can hit a bad shot. Not picked up the clubs since. Probably have 300 NEW golf balls in the garage, Titleist, Wilson Staff, Ultra, etc from salesmen that stop in trying to make a sale. Doubt they will ever see the end of my clubs.

I do believe that day we played golf the golf course attendant came around as we were on the 5th or 6th and said leave the cart by the door fellas for I am locking up and going home. We had unlimited use of the course and could play as many holes as we wanted, unlimited mulligans, play holes over and over again, million tee shots on par threes and everything. What did we do, we finished the front 9, parked the cart and headed for the warm confines of the house. Paid for 18 holes, unlimited use of course, and played 9 holes and left, just how cold and windy was it that day?
RE: Smallmouth Games.............................
Looks like we got a friendly competition going on. I will throw in the same elwood.Get enough involved and a man would be set with enough F-n-F gear to last a lifetime . Just remember elwood that this is my rookie year with F-N-F so i get a 2 pound handicap lol That means I only have to catch one that weighs 11 to top your 12. pressure on you now. Let the games begin.
RE: Countdown to 12 pounder has begun...
Well I have seen this lake go from dead calm to big rollors in a few minutes a number of times but that was the first time I had been on the lake at night and have it happen while I was in the middle of the lake. 4-6 footers that night is probably a conservative estimate and it did make for an interesting ride...lol. I have thought a number of times what if that had happened to someone that is not as familiar with the lake or running rollers as I am....it definitely would put someone like that in a very bad situation. Elwood did a great job spotlighting those crossing bouys for me that night. It was a ride that will last in memory with me (and I am sure Elwood) for a long time.
RE: Smallmouth Games.............................
Come on Michael, 2 pound handicap????, less back up the handicapping bus a little bit. But since I have committed to give tackle away in our friendly competition, and if you have seen my FNF/Winter Tackle Box, Striper Tackle Box, Plastic Tackle Box, Spinnerbait Box, plus the 60 pound general tackle box all stuffed full to the gills (yes I have a fishing tackle shopping problem and am currently involved in counseling to cure the disease), I have plenty to give away plus I always like a challenge, I will give you the 2 pound handicap and accept your challenge. Let the games begin.
