Re: Who's Goin to the Boat Show today.
Well...I went, took my dad with me. Like one of the other posters here said, I had no real reason to go to the show either other than the fact that I took my dad because if it weren't for his influence on me through the years I wouldn't be the crazed fish-o-holic that I am today. Dad's 80 years old now, on dialysis and probably doesn't have very many boat shows left in him. Oh well.
One thing I noticed in the couple of tackle dealers that had booths were how one of the dealers had his stuff marked up quite a bit it seemed to me, for instance: "$79.00 dollars for a Shimano Sedona 1500 Series spinning reel when you can get them all day long at Bass Pro for $49.00 dollars?". I realize booth rental is probably high but dag-gone man!
On the positive side I stopped by Plapp's Outdoors tackle display and judging from what I could tell they weren't offering any real bargains or show prices but at the same time they didn't mark stuff up sky high either. I was able to find some Matzuo lures in Plapp's booth that I had been looking around quite some time for so I bought some of those plus a new ballcap...thanks Plapp's!
Also enjoyed stopping by Fish-Tales Guidge Service booth and talking with Randall Gibson, he did a pretty good little seminar on throwing a cast net to catch your own bait and what all is required in order to keep your bait alive. I guess I realized catching your own bait was work but I didn't really stop to think about how much effort really goes into it if you want to catch your own bait AND keep it alive.
Re: Who's Goin to the Boat Show today.
I was at the show. That side scan was cool. I just started seeing the adds for it. It almost seems like cheating if you get one of those? It also cost a little less than what I am hoping to buy my first boat for?
I went for the fishing seminars. It was enjoyable to me; but I am a relative novice so I was able to get a lot out of it.
Sorry I didn't get a pork chop sandwich now though. Maybe next year.

I remember them porkchop sandwiches and man were they good.
