I hear ya buzzking.......our two guys zeroed the first day, then had one fish the second day, however as soon as they opened the livewell it jumped out and found freedom! Talk about bad luck! They couldn't get a thing to go their way!
Oh well, neither had fished a tournament until last spring - but they certainly learned a lot in Texas! Heck, that's what college angling is all about; learning! If it hadn't been for the U of L club, probably neither one would have known what tournament angling is all about and I might not have met them either! Both are a blast to fish with and a lot of fun! They're planning on going again to Texas this year to redeem themselves. Hopefully we'll be able to send another team with them this year, just in case that dark cloud of bad luck decides to follow them again!
Hey horsefly,
I saw where you said you might win enough over at ceasars... got an idea. When ever you get that gambling urger, take however much you would set aside to spend on the night of gambling, and put it into your checking account. Then start an Orange direct savings account, which pays nearly 5%, and you have access to your money 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. All you have to do is go online and transfer the money back into your checking account. You will see you can save your 3-4K very quickly this way.
Good luck,
Danny
Well, as good an idea as that is, it's just not as fun!
(I'm being completely sarcastic, and do appreciate your idea - in fact, I'll be sure to look into it, seriously)
A boat would be great to own, the biggest thing I need to get past is all the things the wife wants, hardwood floors, paint the house, fix up the front and back yards, work on the patio... you know, boring stuff... LOL! I'll just need to keep paying for other fellas' gas for a little while! :)
Saw this article this morning, thought some of ya'll might like to read it... good news for the college fishing folks...

CBAA Sanctions National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship
The Collegiate Bass Anglers Association (CBAA), the governing body for collegiate bass fishing, has announced its first sanctioned tournament program and has formally recognized the official national championship event.
Getting the non-profit organization's nod of approval is the Fox College Sports National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship (NCBFC).
"We have reviewed the NCBFC program and are satisfied it meets our standards for a quality collegiate bass fishing program," says Troy Heckaman, CBAA commissioner. "We are also naming its championship tournament as the nation's premiere event for determining the top college fishing team in the country each year."
The announcement is good news for the NCBFC program because the tournament's organizers have already committed to a second championship date and location, a number of regional tournaments leading up to it, and an extended television broadcast schedule for college bass fishing in 2007 with the Fox College Sports network.
"We've been around tournament anglers and fishing TV programs for many years now," says Wade Middleton, host of the NCBFC television series that is in its fifth week of airing. "But I can't think of any group of anglers that has been more fun to work with or more excited about the sport than these young men and women. They are bright, polite and well-spoken, serving as great role models for fishing and America's youth."
The current 2007 television series features the 24 schools and 41 teams that competed in last year's national championship event held on Lake Lewisville near Ft. Worth, Texas. The 2007 championship returns to the same lake, Sept. 27 - 29, with Sneaky Pete's Marina serving as the launch and weigh-in site. The 2007 championship field is expected to number 100 two person teams from 40 schools nationwide.
Prior to the championship, several tournaments affiliated with the NCBFC are being held across the country and will be filmed for next year's television series. Included among them are the North Carolina State Invitational and the Big Ten Classic in March, and the Alabama Invitational in April. For entry information on each, and to learn about additional tournaments on the calendar, visit collegiatebass.org.
Other colleges and universities interested in hosting a bass tournament this year and having it filmed as part of the NCBFC series are invited to contact Careco MultiMedia by calling (210) 697-8081.
Participation in the 2007 championship is open to college students who are currently enrolled in a school-recognized fishing team or club. A school may send up to three teams of two contestants each. Registration starts on March 15, 2007, and the first 100 eligible teams will be accepted. Registration can be completed online at www.foxcollegesports.com, under the bass fishing section.
The NCBFC television series can be seen on Fox College Sports network each Wednesday at 8 p.m. and on Sundays at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Eastern times. Shows that have already aired can be viewed any time at OutdoorAction.com.
The Fox College Sports NCBFC series is made possible by a number of national sponsors, including: BoatUS, Ranger Boats, Garmin, Evinrude, Cabela's, Minn Kota, Costa Del Mar, Anglers' Legacy, American Rodsmiths, Keelshield, Nemire Lures, Sebile, and Yozuri.
Thanks KYHorseflys......
We've been working with the CBAA and have not seen eye to eye on many things in the past....it has been the consensus amongst all colleges that the CBAA has a hidden agenda - especially in the sense that they wish to be the ONLY college angling organization (they thoroughly do not support ESPN's College Smash-Mouth Bass Series and the CBAA schedules events against ESPN).
In order to help straighten themselves out, they have enlisted a panel of college anglers from many different schools to help guide the CBAA in the RIGHT direction. Hopefully, they can start turning things around this year and realize that college anglers make the sport what it is, not the CBAA! They've been trying for about three years to get their program off the ground - surely that tells you something!
With all that being said I hope they do finally get things straight, because more organizations means more opportunities to fish!
Didn't realize that same "article" I posted was also on their website... ooops!
The ESPN College Smash-Mouth Bass Series looks a lot better organized too after checking out their site.
I agree!
The CBAA has a lot of catching up to do.......
