Re: The end of Tubby Time!
Not trying to make anybody mad here but it sounds like there are more people here that are Tubby fans and not UK fans. Yes some of the fans were a little rediculous but when you are paid 2 million dollars a year to be great and you are average that does'nt cut it. How many here get paid to do a job? And what happens if you don't do it? Go CATS!
Re: The end of Tubby Time!
I've always been a UK fan, just not a Tubby fan after he started that Saul Smith every game......what a joke.
I might actually cheer for UK a little more now that Tubby is out.

I'm glad he's gone. I hope he takes those 8-9minute scoring droughts with him. I've always said from Day 1 of the Tubby reign, once he gets his own players we'll see what happens. We saw...nothing.....
My favorite team bleeds Ky Blue, but my favorite coach lives 70 miles west.
Bring on Donavan.

Re: The end of Tubby Time!
Born and raised in Lexington. Cat fan, not really! Have had big blue pushed at me from every direction since childhood. Love watching basketball, but give me an underdog to route for every time. Seemed that is where Ky found themselves this year. Watched three games and seem them not being able to hang onto a lead and lose. Coaching or player problem, I will not be the judge.
Smith has an impressive record that speaks for itself and can't be changed or denied.
*In my opinion.* Any coach who comes to UK must be willing to set the opinions of the good ol' boy fan club to the side. Focus on the team and goals of himself and the team and do not make excuses or back down from the UK faithfuls. Only one coach in UK history ever carried respect with him throughout his tenure was Adolf Rupp. Not only did he earn it from most, but demanded it from the rest. Any coach willing to take on this job at the present time deserves some respect to start off with. At that point hopefully the fans and media will let him work to meet the goals set forth for the team, without judging him against others coaches and support his efforts win or lose.
Re: The end of Tubby Time!
I wish Billy D wouldn't have turned us down. Right now, the only hire that wouldn't feel like a letdown is Calipari (but with his checkered past, I'm not sure he will be contacted)
Re: The end of Tubby Time!
UK should just hire some high school basketball coach....no one would know the difference!
Re: The end of Tubby Time!
At this point, you're about right!!
Heck, at least the talent level would be familiar to the high school coach...
