Because Wal-Mart is as close to a monopoly as any company out there!! Sam Walton was not about profit...more profit...and more profit!! He was a Christian man who believed in service and taking care of people!! Have you been to Wal-Mart lately!!! You never get any help and they don't care if you are served or not!! I believe he would be sick to see where is company is now!
As for going after Wal-Mart...they are HUGE political voice! You get their attention you get the attention of the nation!!!
Gas is out of control. All I can say is most people get what they deserve for electing who they elected. I didn't vote for any of these fools. Maybe every generation needs bad officials at least once to remind them of what can happen. Too bad my generation is suffering through the worst in history. It will take decades to fix all of these problems. That cigar and Monica doesn't seem like such a big deal now does it!! I would glady have that vs. 3 dollars a gallon.
Ok guys this is the way it is. -I was going to go to Cedar Creek in the AM:-But just got out to take the grandkids home an seen them gas prices jump up to 2.99 gal.--As of right now im Pi$$ed---Just not in the mood to pay that kind of money to go to Cedar--so for you who are going tomorrow do have fun...
It makes me so mad I could strangle an A-RAB. Big oil is killing this countries economy and the government isn't doing S..T about it. Oh and before somebody gives me a free enterprise speech save your breath I really don't want to hear it. Whatever happened to all that oil we were suppose to be getting from Iraq for helping their sorry a$$es, not a drop as far as I know. If it would have been up to me we would be bathing in oil and Iraq and Afghanistan would be a leveled sand dune. Sorry I'm done. George it is breaking my little heart you can't fish twice a week though, LOL. Just kiddin buddy, get on out there and get ya one of them ole bigguns.
It's total Bull$h!+ !!!!!!!
Up and down everyday doesn't have squat to do with the price of a barrell and Congress and dufass are doing nothing !
Nuff said.........
One question I've never heard asked is this:
Why, when the price of oil raises 1-2% per barrel does the price of gas raise 5-10% per gallon. Shouldn't gas rise at the same rate?
The govt makes alot more off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do, but you never here anybody complaining about that. I just don't get it. They tax our wages, gas, merchandise, and I could go on and on when will enough be enough.
It's only going to get worse guys. It's estimated that oil supplies will be used up around 2020. Do a little research on the "peak oil" phenomenon and see what it's all about. I hate to see it happen, but we can't go on forever using petroleum based products the way that we do.
Ethanol and biodiesel are going to become more and more prominent as gasoline prices continue to increase. The only drawback to these alternative fuels is that it takes a lot of energy to produce them, so it's not a cheap fuel source right now - it's kind of like recycling in the fact that it costs just as much to recycle as it does to use new materials.
The U.S. has been trying to push the use of alternative fuels since 1992 with the Energy Policy Act of 1992. It consists of credits for use of biodiesel and ethanol when a 20% reduction in the use of petroleum based products is acheived. It's a step in the right direction, but what is conserved is merely a drop in the bucket - it's going to take major cooperation from all industries (especially airlines) in order for a real difference to be seen.
If you don't believe me that the oil reserves are diminishing, look up Dubai and see what all they are building there. It's ridiculous! The prince of that country knows that his oil is quickly being used up, so he's trying to build up the tourism over there as a backup plan when the oil does run out. They've built islands that look like palm trees, and built islands in the shape of the world with all of the continents - for a small fee you can buy your own island or "country." It's crazy!
Sorry for spilling all of this info, but I did a research paper for a transportation class this semester on the topic.
I noticed that also. If oil price per barrel comes down then gasoline should come down in the future. Oil futures control the price of gas in the future. So if oil future prices go up in Jan they may not take effect until Feb. All this does is lock in the amount of oil being purchased in the future at a certain prearranged price. It's like ordering a COD package. Your agree to the price and it's shipped to you later and then you pay as the package arrives. We can do one of two things about rising gasoline prices. We can fight or we can ignore it and make jokes about high gas prices. I've noticed that most just shake it off and make a joke about it. Or they say Nothing will stop me fishing. I saw one woman on another Internet forum say that she was OK if the price of gas went up to $8/gallon. Evidently she thought she's rich enough to sustain her life style for the rest of her life at those prices. I can tell you what I would do. I would make my voice known to my elected officials. I don't want to hear some egomaniac talking about supply and demand economics where he benefits greatly though his stock ownership in EXON. Spare me the lecture on S&D economic, unless you want to talk about how the government should control MONOPOLIES too. Steps down off the podium!Another thing or two that can be done. Conserve gasoline! By 4 stroke engines for your boat. Go slower on the lake to save fuel. By a hybrid car. If everyone did something to conserve it would help. But I won't be holding my breath waiting for this to happen. Although I wish everyone would help out.
kinda funny how if crude goes up on the stock market gas goes up right away and if crude goes down gas prices stay the same or may even continue to rise . it's just not fair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
</p>
I'm glad to hear some else mention "peak oil". I usually never mention because most people don't believe or just won't believe it out of fear. I have no doubt that there is an altenative in place but I feel it's kept under wraps just to keep people buying gas. Yes, I am a conspiracy theorist!!!
Let's face it. The only way we can get the oil companies attention is to use less gas. The only way we can use less gas is to either/or, stay home more or use more fuel effecient vehicles. These were the methods used in the 70's to fight the oil companies and it worked. Since the days of the mini cars and 4 cylinder pickups we have steadly reverted back to the gas hogs. We like our large vechiles and fast boats. So the ball is in our court, we either change our habits, so the demand will drop, or couninue the way we are and pay the price. I for one don't want to or can't afford to give up my Expedition and boat so I will just mumble under my breath and pay the price. It took several years in the 70's to change the system but we did. There is no quick fix. Think about it.
Art you are so right:We have almost or nearly reached the point where half the known oil reserves have been used up. The powers that be have predicted that at that point the price of oil will rise. Just think about the rising economy in China and India and how many people they have to put to work over there in the Far East. They are now using more oil than ever before. We have a supply line curve that's diminishing and a demand curve that's increasing daily. We need to start looking hard at alternative energy source unless we want to return to burning wood to stay warm and to light our campsites. The entire world runs on oilWe need to secure what oil is left for ourselves if we want to continue to be a super power. The way we are gussying footing around in Iraq is not getting the job done. Iraq has 25% of the world proven oil reserves. The Saudis have 50% while all the other countries combined have the last 25%. Now maybe will will discover more oil but don't count on it. We need to plan for a would without oil someday. That day is getting closer and closer. The EXON's are going to get their money while they still can because once the oil runs out they will have to find a new way of making money. They will earn all they can while the getting is good unless government steps in to stop them soon. So far that's not happening. We have spend billions on Haliburton and what do you we see? Gasoline heading up to $4/gallon in the future.
It's only going to get worse guys. It's estimated that oil supplies will be used up around 2020.
