man that is some good shootin. where abouts do gar spawn. i have seen lots on green but never knew where to look for them in the spring. are they on shallow flats ect... i am heading out sat night if the misses lets me.
The gar will normall cruise anywhere, but we've always found more this time of year up in the creeeks and around stickups. You'll see them cruising sometimes in the middle of the creek. There'll be 2-5 of them podded up (1large female surrounded by smaller males) or just a single out cruising looking for a female. We just troll up on them and I count to 3 and let the boys shoot away! Loads of fun and the kids get a kick out of seeing all those teeth! Just be careful w/ them. They'll cut ya like a razor!
we got into a bunch of gar a couple of years ago in the stickups up above casey creek just before you make the bend into the river and snake creek.
A buddy of mine told me gar was good to eat, haven;t tried it yet, wanting to shoot a good size one to see how they are though.
i hope this weather blows out of here soon there are some storms out west of here and i am wanting to head to the lake tonight. i am taking my bow but i am going after the kitties.
is snake creek up river around the bridge on green?
Yep it's past the bridge and the old road bed. I'm talking about the split where Green River and Casey Creek split. :)
