I really meant what I said when I wished him luck with that injury at our age they do not heal well. But with out a sense of humor we are lost. he is indeed in my thoughts and I meant what i said about making bass fishing the sport that it is today, wether that be good or bad He and those early TV fisherman created a subculture that is unrivaled in any sport.
I'm not poking fun at him but these guys are right. He is one hugh jerk. He may have helped the sport years ago, but the way he treats kids and fans today does nothing but hurt the sport if they think the way he acts is ok. His head is so big he has a hard time getting in his truck. Son.... what a head!!!
I never did care much for that guy. Just didn't like his ways or something. But I do hope that he recovers without too much pain. Breaking an ankle is very painful and walking on crutches for 8 to 10 weeks is a Bitch. I would not wisht that on anyone. I have broken my hand and both wrists but by far the worse pain I ever felt was when I broke my left angle bone while playing ice hockey. Now that hurt bad. I was in pain for several weeks until the bones started to mend. And to this day my angle still makes a popping noise when I flex it a certain way.
Roland stopped pretty low when he made that commercial for the pocket rocket toy. Even kids deserve better fishing gear that some plastic POS that will break in about 2 hours of use. That thing is a rip off and a disgrace to fisherman everywhere. That's my humble opinion.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. One of the guys at work took his kid down to Okeechobee and they saw Roland on the dock. The kid asked him for an autograph, and got blown off. Roland told him to stop bothering him.
He gets not sympathy from me.

My uncle has lived in Florida most of his adult life and near the Martins Marina on the big O. He said next to nobody around there can stand to look at Roland as he has become a legend in his own mind. He also told me that he does that to kids and people all the time. There is absolutely no excuse for treating a young person badly that wants your dang autgraph, he's a complete TOOL.
met him in the parking lot at taylorsville when he was pre fishing the boat racing fishing event a few years back, arse hole is a little too nice,he acts as if he needs personal security and you are really bothering him to even speak.
he said that fishing here was a complete waste of his time.
All Sports seem to have those few that rise to the top in spite of themselves. Fishing is no exception. A bone break ***** for anybody, regardless of whether they are a #*^#k or not. I would have to say it would bother me worse if it was KVD, Mark Davis, or Woo.......
