Re: Taking 2 rookie girls fishing....
I am going to take 2 girls fishing... Ages 10 and 7, they have never been fishing and never in a boat. I think I should take them for bluegill somewhere, Maybe Taylorsville or Nolin. I have never bluegill fished on any of the big lakes. How do I find them? Size won't matter because we will throw them back but I want them to have some fast action. They are pretty excited about the boatride and especially fishing because their dad never took them ( he don't fish and he's a junkie) I don't want anyone to give away their spots on a message board so don't do that! Just give me some tips on what you all think. I thank you in advance and I know their mom and them would too.( By the way, I bought them their own rods.. 33's, and they were so happy!)
I've had good luck with the gills at Dog Creek on Nolin...after unloading boat turn right and motor past beach/swimming area then turn right at first point and you will see hundreds of yard of bluff wall to locate Bluegills. Good Luck.

Having raised two daughters who love to fish and hunt, the best tip I could give you is "Don't get too far from the rest rooms"! :) Seriously, expect to bait hooks, untangle lines, get hooks out of trees, hair, and clothes, settle arguments, and hear "oouu, that's gross!" more than you'd care to. Just remember you are making a memory that will last a lifetime for those kids (and you too). God bless you.

Re: Taking 2 rookie girls fishing....
Use wax worms. I have 20+ nieces and nephews that I have taught to fish and their nickname for wax worms is "Bluegill Crack". We never caught many keepers but the fishing was fast and furious. I had 6 of the kids down at the same time one weekend and I was running like crazy taking fish off hooks and keeping those hooks baited. Have fun.
