Re: Anyone headed to Florida this Spring?
They have been working on the levee on the east side at the Big O and keeping the water level low. No access to the lake in many areas.
Thanks for that info. I guess a rain won't do any good if they are controlling the water level for repairs. Good thing I got a back up plan. Alligator Alley should do just fine. I fished it a few years ago and we did pretty good. I know I can catch'em there. I'll keep looking for info on the BIG"O" and see what happens.
Re: Anyone headed to Florida this Spring?
The FLW just had a tourn. there out of Roland's marina, you can still fish it just be careful. Many favorite areas have no access.
YES!!! We are leaving exactly one week from today. Our annual trip to walk on water, kississimmi river, crooked lake. Got me a 9 pounder down there last year which is my largest to date. Maybe this year! Hurry up Feb.8 This next week is going to take forever to get done.
I am leaving in 2 weeks for Tampa. I would like to drive over to Kissimmie for 2 days of fishing. I will not be pulling a boat down, but I would like to find a Marina that rents small boats. Any suggestions. email me at
...I've been doing some reading here lately and most of what I have read says that early March is the BIG FISH time down in the "O". I HOPE!
Lake George, Crescent Lake, and the Intercoastal have been known to give up some bigguns in March too.
Re: Anyone headed to Florida this Spring?
Two more days until I get to warmer weather (I hope). Will give report when I get back.
