Re: D&L jigs
If you guys are looking for a local company that makes jigs, shakey heads, and buzzbaits you might want to try Legal Limit Lures, makes a great product, and they still are pretty inexpensive. I have used them, and they are a great product. Check his website out, and order a couple, the guys name is Jeff, super guy to deal with.

Re: D&L jigs
I have been following this post pretty close. I love Jigs, but don't have near the background fishing them as most of you - I have only been concentrating on them the last two years. I have used some of the last cast stuff, but not any of the D&L, but they do look similar - they also look similar to the other 100 or so custom and manufactured jigs I have seen. I don't think it matters who copied who, as long as they are catching me fish - I don't care if it was bought at Wal-Mart or the guy down the street made them for me. Actually I did have the guy down the street take a close look at some of the D&L color combos to make me a few jigs. I almost prefer having jigs made for me- I seem to have a little more confidence fishing something I had a part in making. I plan on spending next winter learning how to make my own - and I will be copying all kinds of stuff.

I'll second that----especially his football head jigs. They just look great.
But, I will say that D&L also makes some nice jigs. D&L has that "baby advantage" I think. The one that comes in 3/16 and 5/16. I really like those and I realy like that Cumberland craw color. I don't care who came up with it.
It's kind of like any other bait out there. Most companies have a few nice products and some not so nice. I pick what I like or who I feel makes the best product.
LOL---just ask Jeff at Legallimits---I think I now have about 50 or so jigs from him.
Finding a "local" that makes a great product is good. I consider anybody from KY a "local" and I always try and buy from them first.
In the world of fishing lures does it matter who copies who? That's been the way of that business for years. If I can find a good Kentucky owned company to do business with the I'm all for it. Furthermore, if they are local that's even better.:)
That's my thoughts as well. I love their jigs and the smalljaws like their Cumberland craw.

Yep, I have to agree Jeff made me some special request colors and hook combinations a few years ago. I also purchased a spinnerbait or two from him...very accommodating man:)
