Re: espn Classic coverage
Jim I have heard that about him and I admire that for sure if that's the case. But man somebody need to give that boy a serious lesson on how to handle fish. If I fished with him for more than an hour or so somebody would be wet, and I say it would be him I think I can take his little scronny butt.
I am right there with you, his fish probaly do not fare well after release. Did you guys notice how he runs to the back of the boat after the hookset, if I was the cameraman, i believe i would of had to kick him in the water, after he caught that fish and said i am a bad man, and then spit, like thats something cool. The guy is a total moron, and i cannot stand to even look at him, i change the channel every time they show that wannabe
Re: espn Classic coverage
I watched cause there was nothing else on. The outcome was as follows;
Will not buy Purulator Products (Gman Burnt me out)
I learned nothing at all to improve or enhance my fishing experience
Obviously what I was told about the correct way to treat fish was a lie because between the pros hugging them or throwing them in the boat they took a beating . This by the way, gives the airheads with the 4 letter organization more ammuntion to slam our sport.
Well said my piece I really don't feel much better either
Re: espn Classic coverage
If you want better coverage, get off your butt and go see it in person!
Why is it that nothing ever seems go enought for some of the people who choose to post on this GREAT website?
Its too cold, its too hot, Cumberland is too low, blah blah blah. Do you see a pattern here.
BASS website coverage of weight in was good. And they showed as much as they could with the tape they had of the days events. I'm sure there will be more complete coverage coming to ESPN in the days or weeks to come.
Re: espn Classic coverage
in reality Ike is probably a good guy and he knows how to fish, but IMO if he didnt act like a fool and almost have a heart attack every time he caught a 2 or 3 pound spotted bass he wouldnt get the plublicity that he gets. he is a true "made for tv" fisherman. a lot of the fish they catch take a beaten, ike bear hugs or lets them flop around for five minutes while hes yelling or head butting the camera. if i were his camera man he would have to either take some meds for that or he might get a little wet.
Re: espn Classic coverage
I hear you Mark, my money's on you brother. Might have to do a Roy D. Mercer on him. "Just hi bigga ole boy r ye anyway?"

Jim I swear you should be a comedian, that one cracked me up good.
Re: espn Classic coverage
Heres what we all want Footage of the fishermen fishing.... not catching,
real footage, water temps, depth, baits, presentation, locality then the camera
jumps to some other angler where we see the same FISHING this can be done it can be done well and the footage LIVE on the final day of the Classic.
also dont stroke FLW theyre as bad and I think worse its a downward spiral of comercialism. Im a loyal Dog but no more I will purposely shun Lowrance
Advance Auto, Mercury, well maybe not Mercury....its out of hand you dont even see a pro just say spinnerbait its a Strikemasterwareagle Titanium microchipped Tungsten copterblade sorry im must pause for a comercial Break
Re: espn Classic coverage
Ok guys here we go again this year !!! They are only giving updates. The real show is on in a couple of weeks. I think they are giving too much info !! With anglers like Ike in the feild all they have to do is watch espn at night and see how the other guys are fishing. The one angler is fishing the backs of the small creeks up the river. Hasn't seen a boat all week ok Vandamn is struggling on day two in the clear water by the ****. Funny thing he pulls up the trolling motor and goes to the area the angler is fishing and starts to make a come back. GUYS IT IS $500,000 dollars they will come in on other guys.............!!!!!!!!!. C Hartley is fishing docks and after day 1 coverage Bang Hackney shows up !!!!
AS for learning from FLW they didn't even give coverage of their championship on National tv.
WAIT FOR THE REAL SHOW it will look more like the coverage you want to see.
If that's the case, ESPN and their website should promote the absolutely terrible "coverage" they bragged about on TV and their website. I'm through watching ESPN.

Hence why I stopped hanging out over here and may stop in once a month now instead of 5 times a day. Also, just for giggles, this has NOTHING to do with kentucky fishing, and should be moved immediately........

Ha ha ha! Same old same old...Ike this...GMan that...Ha ha ha!
Here's some words of wisdom:
Ike is a yankee...nuff said...
GMan is a wanna be player...sorry dude, but it ain't gonna happen!
ESPN...self proclaimed leader in college sports...not fishing...should get out of bass fishing television coverage and start showing reruns of Christopher Lowell, which probably would get better ratings
Kevin Wirth - winner of 2008 Bluegrass Brawl and then some - taking bets now! :)
Re: espn Classic coverage
I understand your argument for not giving away the spots but the problem with that argument is that the coverage stunk again last night for day 3. The fact is that espn is more interested in ratings than in actual fishing knowledge. Ike screaming and acting crazy gets higher ratings in the same notion that a car crash draws attention. I've seen TNN and you ESPN are no TNN.
Once again GUYS this is only UPDATES the real show airs in a couple of weeks. I am confused what does TNN have to do with anything???????
Re: espn Classic coverage
Ok Do any of you guys ever watch any of the elite tournament coverage. They show spots baits and conditions. I am sure when the real BASS MASTER CLASSIC show is on all that will be included. In fact Rick Clunn who is the greastest of all time threaten to quit the fishing game all together if they didn't stop showing gps coordinates because the spots where getting hammered after each event . That was on one of their elite shows when he was in the studio giving commentary !!!!!!!!!
