Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
I went to their site too, and they actually go so far as to say that they're not even opposed to all horse racing or horse shows, so how could they possibly be against all animal ownership? Besides, Tom Buford is a conservative Republican. He couldn't possibly be introducing legislation detrimental to hunting and fishing interests, now could he? Only us liberal Democrats do that :p
So, whats your BP on this issue?
120/80 Normal
140/85 High Normal
120/65 Low Normal
Caution, we don't want get it above 160/110.....Life is to short and too many fishes out there.
Good Fishing to All,

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
The Humane Society actually ADOPTS out pets to people so it's pretty ridiculous to state that their intent is to eliminate animal ownership.

There is a huge difference between the Humane Society and the HSUS. Totally different organizations.
Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
How come we here on Fisnin.com dont have a lobbiest or at the very minimum a represenative to voice out interests to the KDFWR? We are all more than willing to voice our opinions here on this forum, but that is about as far as it gets, as far as I know. Dosnt it seem rational that we organise some sort of PAC or special interest group and appoint someone to discuss these matters with the Legislature and the KDFWR? It seems that we are always getting the short end of the stick. JMHO.

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
When I signed up as a member, it was because I liked the discussion about fishing techniques, locations, etc., not to become politically active. I obviously don't speak for fishin.com, but I think making it into some sort of PAC or something would discourage people from joining. If you read the "off topic" forum, you know that a lot of members disagree about just about everything except loving to fish. And I may disagree with Jim on a lot of stuff, but I at least respect his approach, which is to just encourage folks to contact their Senator or Representative on an issue, instead of dictating to us what Fishin.com's "official" position is.
As to contacting KDFWR, I've emailed them a number of times, and have always received quick, courteous, and informative responses. They seem to like it when you pick their brains :) If there's something in particular that you think should be suggested to them, why not post it on a discussion board, and send them an email? If it's something people agree with, then maybe they'll join in. I know I will. It may or may not make a difference, but it seems worth trying to me. Good Luck

Sorry - I didn't realize that. Even so, the HSUS doesn't seem to be against animal ownership as was suggested.

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
Okay there is a difference between Peta (People Eating Tasty Aminals) oops sorry wrong one, PETA and HSUS. This is an advisory board not the ones actually making the laws. I noticed that some want to stop HSUS from being on there but if they are not allowed then the (2) from the Kentucky Houndsmen Association should be removed that would be fair. I think some are over reacting about the HSUS they are not PETA, I do not care for that group at all they NUTS IMHO. Next time someone from PETA starts up ask them about the Mink Farm Problem they caused and they shut up pretty quick.
I understand the concerns but HSUS is not the same as PETA.
Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
Bureaucracies have a tendency to ignore people unless they are organized. Im not advocating turning this site into a PAC mouthpeace or visa-versa. Just want to have our voices heard.

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
So the humane soc is a bad thing? Some more of this conservative crapola, of course the conservative view is two votes is a majority.Reminds me of the story we heard about the red neck, who was told that his M1 was his wife, he went to sleep with it, with the action open, later joined the boys choir. The humane society is not against hunting. It is against animal abuse.
Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
PETER, You might want to move this one to the "OFF TOPIC" board.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
Jim, you might want to think about moving this one to the OFF TOPIC board, or set up a NEW BOARD to discuss KY Pol... (crap), human rights, etc...

Re: Humane Society to get say on Advisory Board??
Its not about conservative vs. liberal. That's all I have to say about that, I guess your post betrays you ideological position. The problem with The Humane Society is their perspective. From their vantage point any type of hunting/fishing constitutes abuse and or exploitation of animals. Is there any doubt that they will be perusing an agenda visa-vis their position of the advisory board. Its called incramentalism..... slow steady march towards the completion of their agenda and the abolition of your right to hunt/fish. All the while you fiddle while Rome burns. Sad.

P.S. I agree... this post needs to be moved to another forum.

Stonewall, man you made me do some home work. " Incramentalism",that a new word for me, but it says a lot... I had to look it up...and man, does it say a lot with only 14 letters.
"A type of decision-making strategy that reacts to short-term imperfections in existing policies rather than establishing long-term future goals. Decisions are made on a sequential basis and do not radically depart from existing policy.

Thanks for your input and your perspective. PS, I didn't realize I gave a hint to my ideological positon, BUT JUST TO MAKE SURE ANYONE READING THIS POST KNOWS, Best to be informed and make and INDEPENDENT DECISION based upon the best information one can obtain at that point in time. Guess that would make me an ......(Independent..Free Thinker) ???
Good Fishin and as Stonewall said "Keep on chuckin' to all.
