Re: Optimax Vs. E-tec
I would look at yamaha's. I have had extremely good luck with them. I was very impressed with Dave's Etec. I have never felt such midrange pick up. From what i hear from everyone here (I talk to boaters, service tech.s and dealers almost on a daily basis), ist that the Etec's are the way to go. I hear good things about Merc's pro XS, but I am still partial to Yamaha, and so is everyone I know who owns one.

Re: Optimax Vs. E-tec
i have been blessed and fortunate enough to own five different boats the last 20 years of my life.all of them were equipped with at least a 150 hp engine.the only two engines that i have ever run on my boats were merc and yamaha.i have put a lot of hours on all of the engines with very little trouble.but for some reason if i had one engine to depend upon(dependable starts one time turning the key, idles flawlessly, engine never missing at low speed or high speed, etc)i would lean toward a yamaha engine just from my experience. thanks
