Re: Laid Off
This is something that is happening everywhere...my step son got his notification about two weeks ago that in Jan his job is gone forever with the plant he works at shutting down. I know it is a blow to lose your job...I have been there...did not know how I was going to make it...but we did. Go over your bills and see who can wait....talk to your mortgage banker, car note holder etc...don't wait until you are behind to do so. All they want is their money...they do not want you to default...especially in a down market. You should find you can work out some reduced payments until you can get back on your feet. Life ***** right now I know..or so it seems...but look at it this way, a new door of opportunity is also opening...you are now free to seek new horizons...here is a prayer that you and your family enjoy the love of Christmas and the fruits of a coming New Year.

Re: Laid Off
For the record...A lot of folks on here seen me around on the board and I've only actually met a handfull of you all, even though I don't know many of you I DO know Bob personally and have known him for a very long time...Bob is good people, he's been on the electrical estimating side of the business for a good long while (maybe 15 years?) and before that he was involved in electrical engineering for several years. So if anyone happens to know someone hiring then Bob would be a good candidate for sure!
Bob, hang in there bud, nothing lasts forever dear friend and as they say: "You can't keep a good man down!" Not for long anyway.

Re: Laid Off
Prayers sent. Hope you get back to work real soon. Do not know how far you live from Fort Knox but they are doing alot of building here. All of it is civilian contracted so maybe there is a lead here hopefully I do not know that much about that type of work.

Re: Laid Off
Hang in there Bob. Soon I mean very soon the Lord Obama will take over and all your cares will pass. There is going to be peace and properity for all!
Really, Dave Ramsee always tells people in your situation to take anything to keep the money coming in. I in years past work drive a cab, deliver pizza, take anything. Some money is better than nothing. Will add you to our prayer list.
Merry Christmas

Re: Laid Off
Thanks everyone for the messages and prayers, it really means alot, and in these tough times its nice to have a place to vent. I am an electrical estimator for a large non-union contractor, and they have been hit pretty hard, but I am praying that is only for a short while, because I dont think I could make it to long on unemployment. Funny thing, as some of you have said the Lord closes one door, and opens another, which may happen, spoke with someone on the sales end, and they may be looking to replace someone there so I may have an oppurtunity there, Chubminnow, its someone we both know very well, and it would be a sweet oppurtunity. Thanks again everyone, this is why I love this board, people on here are some of the best people I have dealt with, and I look forward to meeting some of you guys very soon. Merry CHRISTMAS, and a happy New Year!

Re: Laid Off
Bob,
Sorry to hear about this at any time especially now.
How far are you willing to travel? I know some E.C.'s in Lexington and Bowling Green which I deal with daily or monthly I can ask around, maybe get some contacts for you. As a matter of fact we have worked with Engineers who design in your area. Who did you work for? P.M. me if you feel it's too private.
Thanks DJD, if it gets to bad I will definetly consider Lexington, and Bowling Green, but hopefully this will only be for a short time, if not, I will definetly get with you. Thanks again, Bob

Thanks for the kind words Tim, I appreciate it. I guess if worse comes to worse maybe you can get me back into the Engineering world, its been so long I dont know if I could even size a service anymore, but I'm sure I could pick it back up in some time. We still need to get together and try Dale and some FNF before it gets too warm. Thanks again, and will talk to you soon. Bob

Re: Laid Off
Prayers sent. Dave Ramsey is an awesome guy. You can check out his website at daveramsey.com. Do you do electrical work or are you just an estimator? I may need a little work around the first of the year.
