Re: Zona show
I don't care about his antics---I laugh at his show. I like it! Why does every fishing show have to be serious and quiet and be educational. Shoot, I used to have several "fun" fishing trips with my friends and we acted alot like Zone while on the water. That's what made it fun.
Oh well---not going to please everyone!

Re: Zona show
The only thing I like about his show is the fact he fishes for other species besides bass.
Other than that, I don't care for his antics and I'm also tired of that whole "reality show" template where they continually break from the action to a monologue from one of the people involved explaining what's going on. That applies to lots of shows these days. It's time for somebody to come up with a new format.

Re: Zona show
Zona's show is only one click away from Charlie Moore's. I don't see how the gift of gab land ots of goofy antics has anything to do with a quality fishing show. I've made a living for the past 24 years producing television programming and watch as many fishing shows as I can find on digiatl cable. I also understand that programming preferences is very subjective, so here's my opinion of what makes a good fishing show. In a good show, I want to feel I've learned a little something about catching fish in a new fresh/salt water area that I might travel to in my lifetime. In my opinion, the best quality fishing show on television is "The Spanish Fly" . Not only doest this show have excellent production qualities, but it also encompases the whole experience of going fishing; from the over the road traveling to the destination to making good decisions on the water based on what natures provides. My second choice for best fishing shows was "Schooled by Denny Brauer". I still use many of the techniques I learned on this show many years ago. If you weren't even a slightly better fisherman after just one episode of this show, you weren't paying attention. If I want to watch comedy, I'll tune to comedy Central, I don't want it on my fishing shows! This is just my opinion.
I always felt the same way about C. Moore and Zona. Now, I like them both for fun t.v. watching but never tune in thinking I'm about to learn something. Their shows are not on my list of must see t.v. but I'll watch them over Tennis or Cartoons on Saturday mornings.

Re: Zona show
What really bums me out about all of this, Zona and Madfisherman, is that the original was canceled. Some may be too young to remember, but there was a show that actually got my wife interested in bass fishing for a while, the host was and is one of the most enjoyed fishing personalities around.... can any of you guess???
Think Red hair, beard and a legally changed name to Fish... LOL
Yep, old Fish Fishburn had the best of all three of the fun to watch shows. I loved his intro... where he says "I'm Bob Cobb... and you're not!" LOL
Hey 12volt... I've got an idea for a TV show. Maybe we can hook up and produce it???

Hey Mark,
It's just the beginning...the Classic will be on before we know it and all the Keyboard Producers will pounce on the inadequate coverage and terrible story lines! Not speaking for anyone but myself on this but.....I think that my biggest thrills in this sport comes from what I do or who I go with not what some Sponsored Pro does.
They are good for the sport but I could give a darn what the T.V. coverage is.
Fish was the original! Team Grandma!!!

Re: Zona show
If it ever gets cancelled and Comedy Central does pick it up then I will have to DVR it on that channel. Love Zona's show, best fishing show on TV that combines entertainment and fishing. Best fishing show on tv for information is The Bass Pros. Loved "Schooled" but ESPN cancels that which proves how smart they are, NOT.
i fell the same yhe best show to learn is the bass pros. i dvr just about every fishin show. another good one is city limits with ike. he has to get a limit and does diffrent things to get it on river systems in the u.s. so is hunt for big fish to, and a day on the lake. but the way i see it if you ant having fun then why do it. as zona has showed you can still have fun and catch fish. life is to short to be up tight all the time.

LMAO... Mark, me too!!! But once I start singing, my partner wants to leave, and I lose another fishing buddy!!!!
I have a saying I live by...
"IF it's not fun, I won't keep doing it for long."
That includes any kind of work, no matter how much it may pay.
Life it too short.
To look at it another way, I recently read an article from an ex-UK basketball player who played ball in Europe after his NBA career. He said that in Europe they all say Americans live to work, where in Europe, they only work to live. He said you can't even get a coffee to go. You have to get a cup, sit down and enjoy it. He said it could take 2 hours for a cup because of the conversation.
I've really gelled out in the last few years, and even though I only rake in about 1/3 of what I used to earn, I am retired. Lovin' it too!!! And still young enough to enjoy it.
I certainly wish the same for everyone on here. My next adventure that we are looking forward to is relocation. Maybe to the Southwest. I'll have to learn some new fishing. I've been to Pheonix many times on business, and you would be surprised how many boats I saw down there. I talked with some of the anglers, and they fish up in the mountains in the more "highland" type lakes. I'm also talking about the big bass rigs. I also like NM, and maybe could learn to fish in the Rio Grande. Either way, it will be awhile before it happens, so I'll be happy with our KY lakes and our close by TN and AL lakes too.
