Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
As you can see by a lot of the replies, the Shimano Cumara is an excellent choice. If you buy a Cumara, not only do you get a great rod but you also get a FREE entry into the Shimano tournament that will be held on Lake Cumberland (April 18th) where they are going to give away over TEN THOUSAND dollars in cash & prizes.

Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
I like the bps rods for the money, although i've never bought a spinning rod from their. I like their fuji guides that will not wear down from line even braided, and the power hump grip i find very comfortable when throwing it all day ( i know that has nothing to do with a spinning rod) just for what its worth??
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
Have you looked into having one custom built? For $250 I could build you one incredible spinning rod that would be completely customized to suit your every need. Just a thought.
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
I would say go with the cumara. My dad and I got a cumara spining rod and loved them. We just put in a order for 6 new cumara casting rods. They are great rods and you cant beat the warrantey on them.
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
[QUOTE=ryan_ekubass;351978]i like the st croix avids or the premier either one... i love my loomis's too but they might be over budgets... but i would get a 6'6 to 7'0 medium action with a fast or extra fast tip..... try a okuma reel too they are easy on the wallet and just as good as the more expensive ones..
st croix premier $100
Stcroix avid $180
okuma reel 50 to 80 dollars..
^^^This is some solid advice. I love my Loomis rods but the Avids by St. Croix are just as loveable at a far less price. Okuma makes a solid reel.
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
Well it seems everyone is big on the cumara's.. never held one in my hand.. I just recently purchased the 6'8'' Med Light G Loomis Mossyback with the Fast Action and Fast Taper...I've used it with 1/8 oz shakey heads, grubs, float and jig, small crankbaits and much more. I'm no professional... and I don't like to have to carry 16 rods with me on the lake lol...I'm more of a two to four kinda guy. But anyways this rod suits me beautifully. I really like the fast tapered Mossybacks because of the lack of energy and space it takes to make a cast. A slight little twirl of the rod sends your bait soaring like a rattletrap cast on a glass rod.
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
Oh yeah and if you are looking into G Loomis rods...look up American Legacy Fishing on the net... they are a full service G Loomis retailer with free shipping and the lowest prices... plus the guys that run the place are cool beans and they always send you something free with every rod purchase... The rod I was speaking of cost me 220 bucks shipped to my front porch in like two days
Re: What Spinning Rod Should I Get?
Hey gonna toss in my 2 cents. Get a Carrot Stix. You can get them really cheep on ebay got mine for $100. Also Cumara's are great but they are made for bottom bouncing baits so might not be the best bet if you plan on throwing small reaction baits.
