Your thinking is what is wrong with the big 3. Unions in general are what is wrong with our country. I'm so anti union it makes be sick. I do not see where unions (at this time) do any good for anyone. Years ago yes! Now are they are doing are increasing the cost of everything.
Now with that said, I would not EVER buy a non-american car/truck. In fact just bought a new Ford and love it. You see, Ford has not taken the goverment hand out.(yet).

i bet you wouldnt be saying the same thing if your pay got cut in half to do the same job.... this is how people make a living either make a 12 an hour with the right to work law or 24 an hour with scale and prevailing wage.. i am sorry but i want more money to pay the bills with and have more disposable income... i am not the one that is wrong you are for thinking that its ok to pay someone less money to do the same job...... because i have worked construction most my life and i love knocking down 1000 dollars in 4 days versus working 5 or 6 adn brinign home 450 or 500 i am sorry but thats how i feel....
OK so yousave a lot of money hiring a non union contractor. My company did just that on a plant turn around. They needed to do half the work over because the welders were unskilled at high pressure stainless steel piping. And later some othjer welds failed,if you want a skilled journey men, pay the rate, if you want to hire a yahoo to save money are you?OK so you hate unions, do you hate the american bar asociation? The AMA, these are unions myfriend, of manufactorig, even most police forces have a bpa.Do you think 5.85 is a living wage?I worked in northern indiana, and it was flooded by you southernindiana guys working for better wages. And when they retired, they went back home, and many of them lived good.

So lets get this straight. A union worker in NYC working at a Burger King makes $30 an hour, because it is NYC. And a union worker at Burger King Berea should make $30 an hour?
It is called cost of living, regional adjustments. If 60% of the people are union workers making $50 an hour, could the other 40% afford anything?
Ryan, you should go into politics. Then you could tell ceo's that they should only make $500m a year.
People work for all kinds of companies for all sorts of reasons and for all types of wages. The owners of those companies are the reason our country is so great. It is not goverment, it is US the people. The number one cost to a company is labor. Why do you think some have gone elsewhere. The person who makes $24 thinks he should make $30 and the person that makes $12 thinks he should make $24. Be happy with what you are making now, so many are not making anything.

lets see this has nothing to do with nyc or anywheres close... unless u are jealous cause u dont make that prevailing wage then there shouldnt be no problems... the people that make the prevailing wage are very experienceed adn know what they are doing thats just like telling someone that works in a big highrise for an insurance company they make to much...that is just wrong to tell someone they make to much.... especially a construction worker... someone who has to brave the elements and work outside in a ditch and do hazardous work on the road while u fly by at 80 mph in your mercedes cause u are late to get a manicure... give me a break man..... unless u have worked construction and know what we have to do and i aint talking about building a house i am talking heavy construction.... standing on a 24 inch wide platform 40 foot high while a crane operator swings a 2 ton bucket of concrete over your head so u can pour it in the wall... and it either 100 degrees or 0 and the wind is blowing the crane and its wobbly.... u know that governor fletcher tried to do get rid of prevailing wage and thousands came and protested it......that is taking food from someones table...
See the post by dakota kid. Those mexicans maybe will do a good job, and maybe they wont, but it will cost himless now, BUT what if they screw up?And where will those illegal workers gp for medical care, does dakota have health insurance for them?Or will they, like they do in many cases go to an emergency room, get treatment, and not pay any of the bills. Are they paying socialsecurity taxes on the wages dakota pays them? is dakota paying his part of it, or is some contractor just using day labor, and not following any of the things that are lawfully obligated to him? I'm pretty surethat skilled labor in the louisville area is pretty busy right now fixing storm dam, age, so maybe dakota didn't have any choice, cant fault him there, its what most of us would do. Burger king might pay 10 bucks an hour in NYC, but in atlanta pedro worked for 6 bucks, and screwed up my order twice. so I cancelled the whole thing, and went to wendys, did burger king save money?
Hey Ryan, these people arguing against the right to work law and the unions are just your typical republicans. They for the most part are very selfish and greedy and don't feel like guys out busting their butts to build America in very dangerous situations and heights deserve a decent living for thier family. Most construction owners around these parts would rather pay a guy 8 to 10 dollars an hour and reep the beneifits of the profits made. Thats why Unions were organized so the hard working men and women get the money that they deserve. Yeah the price is high for a union to come in and do a job, but you can't really put a price on a mans life. I am in union and have been on several dangerous jobs, some unimaginable! As for the guy who said that unions is whats wrong with this country, well he lives in a union! The USA! I dont feel that the unions broke the state, or the nation, I feel it is all the corupt spending and bonuses by the politicans DEMS and REPS, and the price of OIL! Thats what put this nation under! To sum it up I just feel like a man deserves a decent living

LOL! I have not heard that one before.:) Anyway, what I see (in Central Kentucky) since this wage started is that Electricians who made $10 per hour can make $30 per hour now if they are at a State Funded Project. How is that right?
Imagine your an owner and you have 20 employees of equal skill sets at their appropriate titles, how do you make a decision on who gets that $30 an hour? Who gets mad and leaves to work for your competition just for the money? Doing a good job is the last thing on their mind, trust me.
How has that school budget been impacted by these inflated wages? My $30 per hour guy is no better than my $10 per hour guy provided their skills are the same. The only thing that has happened is that the State now pays 2-3 times more per trade, per school for labor. Noone is more skilled or more trained or more qualified. What happened is that the job just cost the tax payers more because the Unions could not get their inflated labor costs down to the small business level and compete. So they threw TONS of money and got a Governor elected who would pass such a Bill.
So now we get less schools built, cheaper products, wrongly appropriated monies and cutthroat dealings by the Unions....again. Wonder if the teacher Unions could have used some of that money? Maybe pay these underpaid stewards of our young more? Wonder if the Special needs program budgets that were cut several years ago could have used some of that money? Austistic kids programs were cut so much that teachers and aids were let go...(at least in one local school I know of) The way I see it is their are no free rides, someone always gets hurt by corruption.
As for the alcohol and tobacco tax. Every time I bought alcohol, if the sign in the window said 8.99 for a half case of beer the thats what I paid for it 8.99. Not a penny more. But if I buy a half case of pepsi and it says its 4.99 then they always tack on 6 percent sales tax on to the 4.99 making it 5 something total. I'm not sure if the alcohol is pre taxed or what. I'm sure its taxed some how. some one enlighten me on this.

It is pretaxed at a rate of 60% of cost, that tax is passed on to the consumer. You are already paying one of the highest tax rates in the country and now you will also be paying the 6 % sales tax along with it. So if the sign says 8.99 your total will be 9.52.

I believe individuals should be able to ask for the wage they want and companies should be able to pay each individual worker whatever is agreed upon between the company and the worker.
