Gonna have to be at least 50". And after looking at Rick Lax's replicas last weekend, I'm thinking that might be the way to go. :D

I agree. Replicas are the only way to go in my opinion, Muskies are a limited resource that we have, especially here in KY. The replicas dont cost much more than a skin mount either.
As far as eating them goes.... Id much rather be able to catch that same fish again, or see someone else catch it again. I know of several people that have caught the same fish twice in the same week.
Eating isnt as fun as catching ;) thats what crappie are for.

Re: Spring Musky
As I am the one who started this thread let me first Thank everyone for the great ideas on tackle boxes for these huge baits.
I have to go on record here and say that I am a firm beliver in catch an release. I have never or will I ever keep a Muskie. No matter the size. I have released 4 ten pound plus Bass in my life so far and the reason is that I want to keep on catching 10 pounders. When the recource we all share is pressured to the point that it is today, catch and release in my opinion is the only way we can insure its sustainability.
The very best fish to eat are the most plentiful. Bluegills, Crappie . The top preators need to handled carefully and released to spawn and hopefully fight another day.
Please do yourself and all of us a great service, Practice catch and release.

Re: Spring Musky
I still like to eat one maybe two a year no matter what other people may say or think and thats my right as an angler.....I'm a bass fisherman and have lost many lures to muskie but I still don't do what a lot do and hit them in the head with a oar and toss em back when i catch one bass fishing....with proper management and as long as people don't take one home every day keeping one a year won't hurt the muskie population....they stock the lake every year with more than enough to suffice us all one muskie....they may not all get to be trophies but there are plenty in the lake

That may be the case, but without catch and release it wouldn't be possible.

Re: Spring Musky
I am a strong advocate of C&R However, bricker you surely jest when you compare the taste of crappie with Musky. There is no comparison.
