Re: Ky Afield had a GREAT show about Cumberland and the DAM project.....
I was in the VA hospital on Friday for an outpatient operation. we were stuck on the bridge on the west side of town and the river was already up in the river stadium at the head of the 70's or west end which ever you prefer to call it. there may have been another four or five feet before it hit the streets on river road access. the area where they are trying to build the Summits luxury building was filling up with alot of run off water we were staying over night due to my surgury at 0630 and we woke up in the worst part of the storm about three inches of rain hit in less than an hour. just three inches was scary now add the 40 feet that NG said was possible if the dam did break. they predicted 80 feet of water at Burksville. Well I guess it is all in Gods good time. The past few years have been very good for the schedule of repair, As he watches us today he has given us the skill and knowldge of how to prevent this flood. We have come many times more capeable now than when the dam was first constucted.
