For guys with wives and kids-how much do you get to fish?

I have benn married going on 10 years, we have three kids 8,5,2. My wife bitches every time I mention the word fishing. I go through the week when I want since I am self employed while she is at work. I make sure I am home to get the kids off the bus at 3:15pm. We have baseball four night a week and soccer two nights a week. I don't go too much, the one good thing about my wife is she gives me one week a year in Feb. to go to Florida fishing with friends for a week and i go one week to a Triton owners tourn. wherever it is. So thats two weeks wife and kid free to go fishing, not too bad I'd say. She hates when I watch all the fishing shows all the time.

Every life and every wife is different I have been married for forty years and I have fish for forty years------------------UMMMM I forgot to ask her if she had a problem with it----GL to us all :)

31 of the month ive been married for 24 yrs kids r out on their own. i fish any time i want:D i work 3days a week 12 hr shifts off 4days a week strait
im blessed! but at one time i worked 40+ hrs a week 5+ days a week kids young always something going on that pulled me away from fishing as i look back now i did what a father should do family first it paid off i have good kids they work an ambitous about life an there familys come first im proud of them if i had to do over i wouldit change a thing ive been blessed!

Sounds to me like you have struck a happy medium! Seems to me you have 3 people in your live you must make time for. The wife, the little guy, AND YOURSELF. And reading between the lines, it looks like you are the type that looks out for others, then uses the time left over to take care of "ish". I think you have it pegged as is. Be sure you have allocated some time to let the wife do what she wants. Set time aside for the little guy. And then feel free to set some time aside for yourself to recharge your batteries and get back in touch with who you are. Your wife and kid want you to be you, so do take some time to refresh and give them the best of you. (Incidentally, I got zip kids, been married 29 years, and yes sir, you are fishing mre than me. I think that's because you don't drink......sometimes I just can't remember I planned to go :-) )

Married have a 1 year old that is crawing on me as we speak!My wife is very supportive of me fishing and has been since we met,but as long as I give her time of her own shes good.She stays home with our son so I feel guilty if I leave for more than a day.So I try to give her time to do the things she likes.Even trade I think.

I have a wife...no kids...but I have parents that need my attention more now than ever before...I guess the answer to you question is I don't get to fish no where as much as I'd like to...but it's not because of the wife or any one thing inparticular...It's just life's responsibilities that seem to always be brought to the forefront...aging parents with dad on dialysis, demanding job/career, plus home responsibilities...PLUS the fact that I have at least a two hour drive to fish the places I "prefer" (Green River Lake, Lake Cumberland, Dale Hollow and the Cumberland River)..I guess if I lived just a tad bit farther down I-65 south I would probably be able to go more.

I have two children and a wife, my son fishes with me alot, and sometimes the wife will fish with me also, so I can go pretty much whenever I want, but dont go as much as I would like mostly because of work, have been working a lot of weekends lately. Plus I would be broke if I went as much as I wanted to.
