I had a Batman rod when I was 6 years old. The start of my fishing passion. That was the best rod ever...
My carrot stix!
Any rod that has a fish attached to the other end is my favorite. But if I am considering all the times when there is not a fish attached, MOST OF THE TIME FOR ME, it is G Loomis all the way.
Got a custom made smallmouth rod back in the '70's that I still own. Cut down Fenwick baitcasting rod, made into a spinning rod. Removed the handle and put on a straight handle and you taped on the spinning reel. On the rod, it read, "Custom Made by Billy Westmoreland" with my name on it as well. Ultra sensitive but like fishing with a ballbat. It was what he used exclusively for big smallies in the pre-graphite days. Never leaves my rod rack now.
The Gloomis are very nice. My favorite that I own, a 6'10" bronzeback GLX spinning rod. Lighter and more sensitive than you can explain and an incredible finesse soft plastics rod. shakey head and tube mainly.
But my baby is my first gloomis and my creekin rod. It is a 5'4" GL2 w/ a tennessee handle. has a mag-light action. My biggest smallie and hybrid ever came on that rod. Its a pretty Bad little dude.

right now it is my new castaway launcher if you like to fish a crank bait it is the bomb. fished with a buddy on cherokee couple of weeks ago and used his and had to have one
My favorite rod and reel is the zebco 33 because it is very cheap and extremely reliable. It only 10 or 20 dollars at walmart. with this rod you can pull in fish al l day long.
GLX 1st and H&H 2nd.
I need to get a job with you guys! I wish I could afford some of the high end rods, but my wife would never understand a couple hundred dollar rod. I have a couple All Star rods that I got a pretty good deal on, and I love them.
You can't go wrong with a Loomis rod. They are more expensive but in my opinion they are worth every dime.
