Re: GM to File Bankruptcy
I'm a flag waving American, but jeez...this stuff is just wrong.
The Bowtie is bankrupt. I've never been a big Chevy fan, but still...there isn't too much more "American" than Chevrolet. It's kind of a sad day. :(
What next's? Apple Pie and Major League Baseball?
It is Brian, Almost everything the wifey and I own is Chevy. She even has a 71 Chevelle she restored that was her grandmothers. It has 66 thousand actual miles on it with the original 350, and it will turn sideways in the road if you stick your foot in it. Yes I said she restored, a little help on the body work and she painted it herself. Helps if your Dad owns a auto and body business I suppose. I've got 175 thousand miles on a 5.7 liter 350 in a 95 Silverado that I pull my boat with and it runs like the day that I bought it. Even the daughter drives a 2005 Impala and the wife another Chevy pickup truck.
Kinda makes you sick to think where we have came with all this.
Re: GM to File Bankruptcy
I hear ya Mark...I had a 66 Chevelle up until about two years ago...had the original 327 in it with double hump heads, four barrel, 4-speed...it only lacked a posi rear end but other than that it would run strong...probably about 300 hp with the heads it had on it.
Now we have a 97 4x4 Chevy truck with a 350...and a 2000 Suburban with the modern day version of the 327...if I had my druthers I'd druther pull any boat up to 25' with the Suburban, that sucker is a pullin' and cruisin' machine!
C'mon Chevrolet, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure things out!

I have a 95 Chevy 4X4 PU (350) as well low mileage and it looks great! Kinda a pig as far as power but I love the truck.
I think it's over GM will have to answer to Obama and his cronies.
Re: GM to File Bankruptcy
The new name is........''Government Motors''.
Re: GM to File Bankruptcy
I think Ford is in a great position to take a big chunk of market share. This is another example of how gubment goons need to stay out of private business. The strong survive and the weak, run down, mis-managed go away.....unless these smart well educated liars get involved.
Re: GM to File Bankruptcy
Right now the only Ford that I would consider (strongly consider) owning is the Ford Flex...nice and roomy, nice ride, decent mileage for what it is, which is a glorified station wagon. Actually with the right color scheme I think these Ford Flex models would look just right with a surfboard on top.
C'mon Chevrolet...don't just sit there, do something positive for crying out loud!!

I'm really beginning to think the only reason GM and Chrysler were not allowed to go bankrupt 6 months ago, and NOW are allowed to was to shore up UAW committments to the administration.
HAD Chrysler and GM went bankrupt 6 months ago, sure some jobs would have been lost, but they would have quickly been replaced by non-union workers.
Now, we have Government Owned, and UAW owned vehicle companies. The government NOR the UAW are in any position to make GM viable again.
NOT only that, but the fire sale they are currently having is SCARY. Hummer, which makes military spec vehicles is being purchased by CHINA.
This is all on Obama.......WHAT A JOKE.
