Re: Casting Distances Question
Size of crank bait? I have noticed using a glass rod Medium action will launch a crankbait, in fact I was watching Bass Cast on espn.com and the marshall asked KVD what kind of rod he was casting his #6 sexy shad strike king and his response:
"A 7'10" glass composite - I designed"
Re: Casting Distances Question
i can make real long casts with cranks, and i can throw a weight less fluk or slug-go just as far both on bait casters. it is all in how you set your reel up. it takes some time and a few backlashes to set the reel up with the way you cast. but once you get it figured out you will get the best out of your rod and reel.
Re: Casting Distances Question
I throw Norman DLN and Bandits 200 and 300's. Just looking to get a little more distance.
Re: Casting Distances Question
A high(er) end baitcasting reel and a full spool of line gives you an advantage right off the bat. I use 10 pound line when I can get away with it.
Re: Casting Distances Question
I'm sure I could get more distance if those stupid tree limbs on the bank weren't always getting in my way.
