There are several pay-lakes in Ohio with 100+ lb blues in them though.
Would those fish caught out of a pay lake count as a state/world record?

I'm not sure but I don't think paylake fish count as record fish?
Absolutely they do not.Farm pond yes though.
Well I`m wondering something,,,4 years ago,,,i took my buddy out to my big fish hole and sat there for 10 minutes. I put a 10 in live shad on for him, and the next thing you know his rod went down and he fought this fish for 20 minutes. My dip net wasn`t big enought so I told him I`d stick a hand in her mouth and 1 in her gills and told him to grab my belt and pull when i hollored,,,well he got her up next to the boat,,,I grabbed her mouth,,,or should I say she grabbed me,,(like to have broke my hand when she clamped down) hand in her gills and hollored PULL!,,and we all hit the floor. I had no camera, scales, nothing,,,we rode around asking people if they had a camera,,scales anything..Nothing doing. So I measured her length and grith. She was 54 inches and 34 girth,,,I did the fromula,,it it came to be 78 lbs,,,so now i wqas thinking she might have been alittle heavier.HMMMMMMM...oh and she got released back.....

Cant count carp...............................
I wonder how old a 96 pound catfish might be? In reading the article it said it took 30 minutes to boat the fish...I guess it must have fought decently, but it seems to make sense to me the older the fish the less fight they have in them. The fish was definitely large in comparison to the guy who had his picture taken with it.
A few years ago I went to a seminar at the boat show in louisville. It was titled "katfish College" This guy fished on the Mississippi and said a 50 pound blue would be about 45 years old. Correct me if I am wrong.
Because of the age he emphasised to release them.
We've landed some 50 lb blues at McAlpine and hooked some things that we fought for an hour or two that felt like an elephant. No idea what it was. Had some heavy gear but just could not make it move but it moved when it wanted. They are fun. Kind of scary at midnight down there in the fall with monsters around.

Not yet Mark, my fish is still swimmin lol. I,m back from my fishing trip to Fla. And look forward to getting in the saddle again or at least my little V bottom. Special thanks go out to Jason and Don for giving me some tips on them salt water fish, they are fun. Caught some Kings, Tuna, hardtail, and ocean cats...not quite the size cats I'm used to catchin. I've been keeping up with the weather up here and WOW! Alittle rain or what...I think I counted about 3 drops of rain down there and that may have been a sea gull passing by.lol All and all fun trip, lots of eye candy and and cold beverages. Now I get down to buisness...Anybody seen a 125# blue askin about me???? Good to be home and hope everyone is doin well. Chuck
The 104 lber was the KY record and caught three pools down. Ohio just reinstated the blue cat record last year which is one reason why the previous record was so low. 96 pounds is absolutely huge for the Markland pool and about 30 pounds heavier than me or my other Markland pool cat junkies have ever heard of being caught (out of this pool).

That's a good sign seeing them that size up that far, the river is definetly looking better than it did 30 years ago. I'm wondering if the zebra mussel is responsible for some of the clairity, as much as I hate a non native spieces I think they are helping somewhat, and just wonder what there impact on the native mussels will be.
