Re: The National Tea Party
The house has passed cap and trade, waiting on the senate to approve. They pumped billions into the economy which is slooowly starting to recover. Cash for clunkers, jump starting the auto industry. Health care, they will deliver! All this in 6 months, whats not to like about the dems?;)
slippedcork, What is Cap and Trade?
In short, the “cap” is a legal limit on the quantity of greenhouse gases that a region can emit each year and “trade” means that companies may swap among themselves the permission – or permits – to emit greenhouse gases.

Obama said that if elected he would bring coal produceing companies down. Cap and trade will do this. Green house gases are bad and do need to go but lets set up enough windmill farms and other energy makers and put folks to work before you put them out of work by doing away with coal. This should have been done years ago.
You said "They pumped billions into the economy." Where do you think that money comes from? Who do you think will have to pay it back?
"jump starting the auto industry" You might jump start a car with a dead battery but when you get the car started you better go get a new battery or jump start it again and again and again!!!!!!!!!!
Mark, I think you are wrong, there a millions of people that think the way Slipped Cork does AND THAT IS WHAT'S SCARY!!
Grumpy
Alot of people are scared of change Grumpy. I am to some degree myself. I look back to the 8 years of reagen and the 8 years of clinton and there was no more prosperous time I my 43 years. Bush 1 wasnt too bad but the read my lips line done him in. The last 8 years bush 2 got us into a war on false pretense that we cant finish. Destroyed the budget that clinton got almost to a surplus. Cut every program imaginable to try and pay for a unwinable war. I could fill this page of things why I did not like the way this country was headed. None of you are going to give this guy a chance because you are afraid of change. I assure you,we could not keep going in the direction mccain would have taken us, down the same path as bush. We needed new ideas and obama had them. And yes there are millions of us who think differently. If we all thought alike there would be no need for a democracy. :)
Your right Grumpy, they said that 1.5 million people showed up for his inauguration...good thing was only 14 missed work.
They could get 1.5 million of em in within 24 hours notice but couldn't get 300.000 out of New Orleans for Katrina with 2 weeks notice? They shouould have offered em something free during Katrina.

Slippedcork you are right in part, I am afraid of change and we do need it. But the change at hand is going way too fast. So fast that congress does not even have time to read the bills before they place a vote. Is that smart. We all no it is not smart. I do have some questions.
Who signed NAFTA? Clinton. Was it good for America? Hell no. Who supported NAFTA? Both parties. Who do I trust? None of them and that is what is so sad. I think most would agree on here that we no longer trust our leaders.(both parties)
Oh and check this out here is our tax dollars at work. http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/01/one-day-after-roe-v-wade-anniversary.html
Now someone tell me why we would or should be doing this?
Now I am a repub but I vote split tickets because there are good and bad in both.

You are exactly right in your 1st sentence! Your 2nd sentence, well I have been warned, so I wont say what I really want to because of a promise I made. I am starting to see a pattern though.

I normally dont read links but I did yours because you seemed to be informed. So here goes my short version, the icecaps are melting at an very fast rate. Some say its a natural cycle, some say its because the earth is warming. With a couple hundred years at best of data I tend to believe the earth is warming. If this country is 1st to do something about it maybe it can be slowed. If so then everyone can follow us but sticking our head in the sand isnt an option. I think we can all agree that there is a problem, not only with warming but with pollution of our air and water. I am not a doctor but has anyone noticed the cancer rate among non smokers? I say its the pollution but what do I know. I would think a consertative would love cash for clunkers, a tax incinitive, bush loved those tax cuts. I am trying to answer your questions but I have ran out of room and time.:)
Re: The National Tea Party
You guys are killing me tonight. I had to get another beer to enjoy all of the humor tonight. Glade I'm off tomorrow it could be a long night better than Comedy Caravan. A few more good posts and I have to get out a little KY Sippin Bourbon.
Slippedcork I bet people got cancer before we had pollution. I bet it was as high as it is today. But it was probably a little harder to tell.
This last part is for everyone else who thinks slippedcork is a troll and I could be wrong but has he ever posted anything about fishing on any of the other threads?
