Re: Little League World Series
Andrew, don't blame your over reaction on me. You answered an easily ignorable jab with the ole 'unjust war' haymaker, I didn't make you do it.
Anyhow, Russellville, Ky is maybe overmatched but they made it this far, and that's an accomplishment they can be proud of. I'm hooked on the Little League world series, those kids are top shelf entertainment. A miniature and more fun version of the bigs, and like the bigs it usually comes down to pitching.
You see the hooks these kids throw? For cryin' out loud, I've seen curveballs that would've had me diving to the ground when I played little league. I never saw a sharp non roundhouse curve until the Babe Ruth level, but a lot of these kids are dropping them off the table. Amazing.
It is a little tilted, because pretty often small city US teams wind up playing the best team any given country can put together. When Podunk, USA's team of 100 pound kids win against Chinese Taipei's team of 6 foot tall '12' year olds it's pretty sweet.
I agree Tx-Cal could be a good one. Cal has a kid living in a man's body, I think he's over 6 ft. Haven't seen tx, but they always bring it.
I'm pulling for Warner Robbins, Ga.

DH, I agree but at what price? Speaking from experience, I could throw a nasty Charlie at 12, but I paid for it with arm problems all the way through college ball.

There's been a lot of debate about that jcb. The act of throwing a baseball is not natural to the arm, and throwing heaters or changes likely does damage too. Breaking pitches are probably worse. Do you think they should be outlawed at the LL level? BTW, I envy you for being able to throw a nasty one at 12, Lord knows I tried.

Yeah, I've read recently where they're trying to say it's not as bad we oldtimers thought. Hard thing to outlaw. Curve, slider, slurve...where do you draw the line?
Re: Little League World Series
What about that Cali and Georgia game? That game had it all! Man I really love waqtching these kids play. I didn't realize that that cali kid is 13yrs old and 6ft tall.
Re: Little League World Series
Tore me up, hated to see Ga lose they were a much more likeable group of kids. The cam showed Ca's best player mouthing f-bombs like a major leaguer after they lost the lead. Ca has some serious power hitters, but Tx is the only team that's beaten them so it should be a good US final.
I recorded the Junior League US/Aruba finals for later use. Aruba has a feisty old woman coach, and a good team so I'm looking forward to seeing that one.
Re: Little League World Series
Wow! Cali sure had some great plays huh? I'm sorry it's over but very glad to have watched it! Those kids showed the raw emotions of making mistakes and the controlled emotions of making major league plays....refreshing to say the least.
Wonder how long before the bleeding hearts stop little league from keeping score.
I admit up front, I have not read all the thread, but this sounds like an episode of Two and a Half Men... the soccer game from the first season where the teams don't keep score.
As Charlie said, let's hope that they don't teach the kids to count before they stop keeping score!!!
LOL

Pretty soon someone will start testing for steroids... LMAO
Re: Little League World Series
Man there were some great games. Love to watch them kids. The championship game was very entertaining as were all the games and it looked like a great experience for all of the kids win or lose. The kids really had their hearts into it on both sides and their parents and countries should be proud of them.
