Re: Best Knot For Braid
I have used a knot that my grandfather taught me when I was just a kid. It's like an improved clinch, but slightly different. I take the line through, loop it and hold it against the other line...then wrap the tail end of the loop around both lines six times, back through the loop and cinch. I have never had this knot to break. I have actually pulled out snagged 4/O hooks and straightened them flat! I always used it on braid, and it is unbreakable! IMO
palomar works on just hooks, but for me it would just be rediculous on a crankbait or anything similar. trilene knot has never failed me on braid
Really? I haven't had a problem using it on everything except top water. I mostly use a loop knot for my topwater baits. What's the downfall with the palomar on cranks and other baits?

I'm guessing he is going to say the treble hooks get caught when you pass the bait through the loop. All you have to do is make the loop bigger.
Everyone in entitled to their opinion. There is nothing wrong with the Trilene Knot. I think the Palomar is faster and easier to learn he clearly thinks differently.

Re: Best Knot For Braid
Uni knot....I would put it up an other knot out there. With any type of line.

The Uni Knot only retains about 75%-80% line strength. The Trilene and Palomar both keep 100%.
Does this mean it won't work great. No, it just means it's not techincally as strong as the Palomar or Trilene.

Re: Best Knot For Braid
uh, it ***** to loop a line around 2 or 3 treble hooks and the bill of a crankbait for one?

Re: Best Knot For Braid
Everyone is entitled to their opinion......I have seen several knot tests done on The World Fishing Network (Bass Edge for one) and all have said that the Palomar is the strongest....so that is what I use and always have. I'm sure the others work fine, but losing up to 25% of the line/knot strength doesn't sound good to me!!!!!

Ok I just thought there was an action issue I wasn't aware of. It's really not bad to do and it's worth it since the knot is so good. JMO
