Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
:mad:For one, I could not believe COE would lower the lake below the current 380, without a MAJOR NEWS RELEASE... Hate it when important things like this get posted to the board, with no APPARENT BASIS for the (?news?) ! xxxxx Someone on another board posted it??????
Haved emailed KDFWR and COE. Will post their response.
:mad:OK, has anyone talked "directly" to the COE of KDFWLR on this matter?
Boone,
Just found the rumor control button on the Nashville COE page and asked them to provide the most recent facts about what lake levels will be experienced from Sep 2009 thru Sep 2010. Will post their response verbatum when I get one.
To all, if they do drop it more, doesn't that mean we'll all have a new round of fishing rod, lure, anchor, trolling motor, and jewelry Scavenger Hunting?!?!?!?!!?!??

i don't think he was posting info for the attemp to spread unworthy news.if you ease up on all the mad faces and read his original post i think he was asking for others,in the know,to elaborate due to what he read on another board. There are other boards and false stuff is spread.
on another note i hope that the tourney is not may 1,the usa bassin is having a 500 boat field,if full.it may get crowded..
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
The COE offically announced early this summer that they will not consider raising the lake level until the grout work is completed, which is projected for Oct. 2010. At least until then, they plan to maintain the level at 680. This was straight from the project commander to a group of marina owners.
Well there you go. I personally like the low levels. I would however like to see it at 690 for winter pool and 700 for summer pool. I dread the day they take it back to 723 for summer pool. There will be more wood in that lake than the Teton National Forest. Boat dealerships however are gonna love it, cause they are going to be replacing a BUNCH of lowere units, lol.
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
Hey Boone, why don't you lighten up. No one is spreading filthy rumors and I don't appreciate how you handled your response concerning me. If you can read, you would see that my original post dealt with someone who had called to pre-register for the tourney and this is what they were told. I simply wanted to see if anyone had any knowledge of it over here on this board. So you can squash your little COE rumor button!!!! I had my theory on the matter in my second post and I am sticking too it!!!!
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
Mark when they do raise it back it will be like fishing in a forest, but the largemouths should love it, the lake might have several good spawns after it settles back, finally be some cover to fish there;). It will deffintally change the lake for a while. I do wonder however if the CO is going to cut some of the brush that is growing there now, some of it will be in at least 40/50 or more ft below surfice when it gets back to full pool.

UPDATE---NEWS FLASH--THE TRUTH FROM THE CORPS FOLLOWS:
Mr. Hamme,
Thank you for assisting us in clearing up this rumor. We depend on citizens like you to share information, and we appreciate your proactive approach.
The rumor you see circulating is, in fact, just a rumor. Our team met recently with reviewers from our Division Office in Cincinnati, and together reviewed the current lake level and deemed elevation 680 to still be appropriate. We have no current plans to lower the lake, and our operating plan still states (like it has since its inception) that we will review the possibility of raising the lake level incrementally once we complete a continuous line of seepage protection. In other words, once we complete installation of the barrier wall in our two Critical Areas of the foundation, we will be able to consider an incremental raise, probably 5-10 feet. At this time, we're projecting that stage of work to be completed around October 2010.
The important thing to remember in this process is that the condition of the foundation dictates our lake level plans. So, if something changes in the foundation, our lake level plans may change. But for now, we have no plans to lower, and are planning to review the levels after completion of the barrier wall in the Critical Areas.
Again, thank you so much for your complimentary words and for assisting us in educating your community. If you could provide the address for the fishing webpage, I would appreciate it.
