I don't know where you could buy them but if you have a minnow trap and a creek someplace close to you, why don't you put a couple hands full of dry dog food in the trap and throw it in the creek for a couple days and give them a try the next time you go....I have kept them alive for a couple weeks here at the house....I have a 15 gallon tank that I put them in with a garden pump to oxygenate the water but I'm sure any tropical fish tank would do the same thing....I read at a website somewhere that they can grow to 11 or 12 inches but that they are normally much smaller than that....
For some reason or another the fellas on this board think that us fellas that like to use live bait are somewhat less deserving of respect than the rest.
yea they can get to 11-12 i used to catch them with a ultralight rod then use them for catfish bait bass like them to but i dont think that you can buy them anywhere but may be wrong
i checked the state record for chub minnows i see that its only 0.34 lbs im sure i can get one at least 0.5 think ill go try break a state record in a few days lol

lol....good luck to you.
Have never seen any here in ky for sale. They are very popular way up north for walleye, most of them arwe about 3 to 4 inches long. Have you thought about suckers? On lake lanier small blue gill are used a lot. They are hardy. Some creek minnows are protected.so watch what you use.
The largest one I ever saw was about 6'-2" in length and weighed approximately 245 lbs :)
It may be 74 inches long and weighed 245lbs but IT STILL WAS NOT A KEEPER!!!!
I like trolling them at 90ft deep off the lock wall at McAlpine
Bill's Bait And Tackle had some 4 to 6 inches long in Elizabethtown KY...

it is illegal to sell chubs is the state of ky. If caught live bait lic. will be revoked and a fine will be issued.
caught an 8 in chub was gonna turn it in for record it weighed 0.45 lbs but someone already got one that was 12 in long so there goes my record for a while. lol
They used to sell "sucker chubs" all the time but I'm pretty sure these are different from creek chubs. A lot of catfisherman catch creek chubs with rod and reel.
yes they are different but the sucker minnows do come in very handy about december on cumberland.
