Here's the problem I have with most post on here. People paint the pitcure with one broad stroke and neglect the fact it takes many strokes to complete the whole picture. Things like this don't instantly happen because one party just took control, you know it, I know it and everyone knows it.
Why don't you explain exactly how this is all the Dems fault in detail instead of just looking at some numbers and then saying the Dems are in power so it has to be all their fault. That would be much more useful to most people on here.
I mysef believe there is plenty of blame to go around for most of todays problems.

Well now, isn't that a double standard compared to the Bush administration?
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/economy-watch/2009/04/non-manfacturing_sector_contra.html
Facts are : Since Obama was elected the Stock Market dropped like a rock,Outsourcing of jobs has doubled,Unemployment has more than doubled,Our Debt National Debt has nearly Tripled with no end to the spending in sight,There has been little creation of new jobs and likely won't be with the burdens Obama and co. are placing on business and if Cap and Trade passes it will get worse.
Re: Unemployment has doubled since the Dems took over
Obama just approved 165,000 new H1-B visas (March 31) and that certainly means that 165,000 American technology sector workers will join the better than 4.5 million American's loosing their job as a direct consequence of this program
Re: Unemployment has doubled since the Dems took over
I dislike having Nobama for our President, period!...with this being said I really don't know WHY we're having such problems in America today. I don't know if we can blame it all on Bush...I know we certainly can't put ALL the blame on Nobama cause this mess had already started it's snowball headed for hell approach long before he took office. It's much more than a Dem verses Repub thing, in my opinion the roots of this problem go far deeper than that.
I don't like to admit it, and I'm not about to turn about face and start liking the elected officials we have running our government at the present time, but I truly do think Nobama has tried doing at least SOMETHING to try to get this big ol' USA Consumer machine back on the right track, granted I don't like the things he has done to try getting this country rolling again, but I believe he has at least been trying.
I find it very hard to believe anyone (was it Bernanke?) would go on national television or stand in front of news media or whatever and declare the recession has reached bottom and is now retreating, because let me tell you what, in my neighborhood the economy is still bad and the recession ain't over. From what I'm seeing in my line of work (construction), if there are any signs of a recovery they must be just about the size of a pinhead blip on a radar screen, cause right now it's still dog eat dog and I feel like I'm wearin' milkbone underwear, companies are taking projects for little of nothing just so they can keep their doors. It's still VERY tough out there from everything I'm seeing.

Nice well thought out post chubminnow.
kyfanatic, no double standard here, you placed the high unemployment rate soley on the Dems and I simply said it wasn't fair to do so. The unemployment rate stared to take off in May 08 (5.2%) http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=usunemployment&met=unemployment_rate&tdim=true&q=unemployment+rates and continued to climb to the point it is now. You expect Obama to turn it around in 9 months? Of course if it does start to come down I'm sure you'll use the it couldn't get any worse so it had to get better.
Stock market is doing better this Sep than Sep 08 and long term is looking good. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5323373n
As far as the spending goes I didn't support all of it but something had to be done. Did Obama do the right thing? Only time will tell but things are looking better. Where would we be if nothing had been done?
Re: Unemployment has doubled since the Dems took over
I never blamed unemployment soley on the Dems,I made a factual statement that the Unemployment rate had "Doubled" since they took control,if I'm not mistaken the Dems controlled both the House and Senate in May of 08'.
Chubminnow is correct, the recession is nowhere near over. The unemployment rate is far higher than the data you see from unemployment offices. They do not take into consideration those that never drew unemployment insurance or those that ran out of benefits. My problem with Obama is with such a high unemployment rate why do you allow Visa's for 165,000 foreign workers to come here and take American jobs? Why have outsourced jobs doubled since his election?
For the record I blame every politician in Washington DC.

Are you serious? Have you looked in the help wanted ads lately or are you just spouting something. The Courier-Journal help wanted ads are not long enough to line a bird cage with! Nice try though.

Here's the title of you post " Unemployment has doubled since the Dems took over" and then in the very first post you said "Guess they'll try to blame Bush for this too,but it's funny it has only doubled since they took control"
So you said it had doubled since the Dems took over and gave no explaination why or what caused it to continue to rise to that point and then basically washed Bushs hands clean with the they can't blame Bush line.
Wonder how I came to the conclusion you blamed it all on the Dems?
The people getting the work visas will more than likley take jobs that most Americans don't want or care to take because of the pay, it's to hard........
And how did Obama force any company to outsource jobs? It might be more fesiable for a company to do it but they weren't forced to do it.

Americans don't want Tech Jobs? Better ask Geo if he'd like to keep his job that he's likely to lose thanks to Obama handing out those Visa's.Fact is that's getting pretty figgin old the "Jobs Americans Don't Want" line. There are people begging for jobs and there aren't any,yet you want to give them to foreigners? Now I know why I'm slowly learning to HATE Democrats.
Did Obama force companies to outsource jobs? No,but he sure isn't doing anything to stop it either,in fact as I proved he has DOUBLED it since being elected, that's really helping Americans out.
Like I said, the Democratic Communist Party.
Re: Unemployment has doubled since the Dems took over
By the way did I tell you that the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HAS DOUBLED since the Democratic COMMUNIST party took over?

After doing some reading about H1-B visas here is what I found
"The regulations define a “specialty occupation” as requiring theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor[1] including, but not limited to, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, biotechnology, medicine and health, education, law, accounting, business specialties, theology, and the arts, and requiring the attainment of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent as a minimum[2] (with the exception of fashion models, who must be "of distinguished merit and ability".)[3] Likewise, the foreign worker must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and state licensure, if required to practice in that field. H-1B work-authorization is strictly limited to employment by the sponsoring employer"
So they are very technical jobs that these visas are being used for but what I found was that most compaines hired them because they were very highly skilled and not that they could pay them less because they are required by law to pay the prevailing wage in the labor market, or the employer's actual average wage (whichever is higher) and the law provides stiff penalties for abusers.
Also I can't find real proof any where of 165,000 visas being issued, so maybe see if you can find some solid info on that.

The Courier-Journal as a whole aint big enough to line a bird cage and yes I am serious. Truck drivers, NAs, and RNs are endless.;) Two of the three require some training and with education the 3rd is endless!
