Hey DJD did you mean to post this here? Sounds like it might have been meant for the "Unemployment" thread, anyway you lost me if not.
Guess I'll just lay down and give up,NOT!!!!
I'm glad my ancestors didn't think like some of you folks or we'd all have cockney accents
If you think Illegals and Foreigners coming here taking AMERICAN CITIZENS jobs or companies sending our jobs offshore is a good thing, then I think you are as big a traitor as the politicians that continue to allow it to happen. In Revolutionary times they would take these traitors out and hang them.
Win or Lose I've committed myself to fight this anyway I can,if it inconviences me some, big deal. Like I said it may not get anywhere, but if I can hurt these companies wallets, then you can bet things will change.
By the way,it's not the cost of labor that drives the prices up as much as Corporate Greed, you can bet they have a profit way over a normal percentage whether it's made by American Labor or Chinese Sweat Shop Labor.
Naw but it could go in either one.:) Jobs leaving means jobs lost and jobs taken by illegals mean jobs lost and super cheap wages here in the U.S. which is very similiar to outsourcing for cheap wages...so I was just taking that angle.
I see it every day in Construction and it really makes it hard to compete with a contractor who can pay 3 guys what a legit contractor pays one man and I'm not talking union wages either.
If you truly want to boycott AT&T, you basically need to cancel your internet service.

Well at least I agree with you on greed being a problem for the most part but that's capitalism at work for ya.
So us continuing to buy from these companies makes us unpatriotic and we should be tried for treason but your calling the POTUS elected by the people, for the people a commie, socialist....... is fine? How well would have that flown back then?
Added this to make sure you understood I was talking about what would happen if you said such things "back then".
I don't know the whole answer,it certainly is hard to not buy a service or product from any of these companies, but if everyone would stick together and force our Govt to penalize these companies for selling us out instead of taking kickbacks from Lobbyists, then we might be able to dig ourselves out of this recession and the huge debt we've racked up.
I don't see how these companies can continue making a profit in the US if a huge percent of people don't have the money to spend on their product/service because we don't have enough decent paying jobs.

You know, in some of those countries where jobs are going, those people are living in extreme poverty and are literally dying for those jobs.
In the meantime, America has gotten fat, happy and inefficient and we're fortunate to have a government that takes care of us to some degree when we're unemployed.
In other words, I don't really see this as a black and white issue. In some cases, those people need those jobs a lot worse than the people in America do.
When I was young, my Dad's company closed a plant in Minnesota and opened one in Kentucky. Is that really much different from outsourcing to another county? Should the people of Minnesota have boycotted their products? And why did they outsource to KY? I think a lot of it had to do with finding people willing to do the same job for less and probably something to do with taxes being lower. Therefore, if we want to retain jobs, we need to be competitive, not just boycott things.
(And I know I'll get blasted, but I'm trying to play devil's advocate here and point out that there are other sides to the issue. I'm not in favor of outsourcing jobs.)
Even the State ok KY outsources jobs. The place clients call to activate their Food Benifits card is in India. I have lost two jobs due to this and now Whirlpool in Evensville Ind is moving to Mexico.
So basically you're telling my family that has been in this land since 1608,fought in every war in support of it,paid more than their share, should do without because it's now the United States priority to babysit the rest of the world?
I think we better worry about what's going on here in the US instead of employing the whole earth.
Traitors to their own country.

No - that's not what I'm saying. Read the disclaimer at the end of the post. I'm mostly saying it's not as black and white as it may seem.
Furthermore, a lot of these companies had their own roots internationally. Should Toyota pull its Georgetown plan back to Japan?

Toyota built a plant here because Americans bought their product in greater numbers than anywhere else,do you think that these other countries buy more of the companies listed products than the USA?
I say that they should put a tariff on every product coming in from elsewhere like they did in times past, this country didn't become so great by having huge trade deficits with every country in the world.
