Re: All I want for Christmas....
God bless you! Remember no matter what the odds, you and Jesus override them; when you run out of rope is when you touch the hem of His garment.
I'm facing a tough task in Dec. to have spinal nerve blocks in the upper half of my body. It will be done by Fluoroscopy and I'm allergic to the imaging dye; in addition it will be done in several places in a thin sac between my spinal cord and vertebraes; 1/4 inch too far and I could be paralyzed. We wait 2 months (about Feb.) and the Neurosurgeon will open my neck on the front, move my voice box over, and try to put my neck back together. I have 6 compression fractures, beginning at C-3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and T-1 and 3 trapped nerves that are splintered, swollen and inflamed. Some of the vertebraes will be removed and replaced with either bone from my own body or cadaver bone. The rest will be cleaned up and some will be fused with steel plates and screws.
I guess I need Santa to bring me a screwdriver and a case of WD-40.
The best Christmas present anyone could give me would be a trainload of prayers a few weeks early. A miracle would be best of all. I am so scared I can barely breathe when I think about it.
Bassin Bug prayers sent for you and the surgeon
Re: All I want for Christmas....
Aww gee Bassin Bug, so sorry to hear of all that you are going through. You must be in alot of pain. I am sending down positive thoughts and lots of prayers that those delicate surgeries are performed by the steady hand of a skilled surgeon. Sounds like a long recovery process. Take care of yourself. :)
Re: All I want for Christmas....
Elnut, you have through so much pain and suffering with your surgeries and all those hospital stays that I send you down positive thoughts and prayers that your surgery is a complete success and that recovery time is minimal. You are very deserving of a break on this one. I am sure the Lord will be with you in January. I must say you are getting skinny there. So good for you on the weight loss. You are at a good weight now. You must feel better for the weight loss, eh? Take care.
Re: All I want for Christmas....
My Christmas gifts would be to talk to Bassin Bug and Elnut throughout 2010!
Less Stress and I'm ready to trade my ole wife in on a new one, I just love that new wife smell.
Also a New GMC Sierra extend cab with all the buttons would be very nice to. I prefer Black in color with cloth interior cause in summer I sweat like a TV Evangalist after a Sex scandle.
PLEASE tell Mrs. Hall that you would like a new wife for Christmas with a new "Cathouse" smell. You need to place your order now so you will be out of the hospital in time for Christmas.

Re: All I want for Christmas....
All I want for Christmas it to see Christmas of 2010. Given what my surgeon has told my wife and I about my next upcoming surgery in early 2010 it is about 50/50.
On a side note with a little humor involved: Some 3 point defense by the Big Blue would be a nice Christmas Present as well. At 6'1", 232lbs of NOT muscle and I think I could bury about 15 - 3 point shots in a game against this team right now. Almond with 11 - 3 pointers last night for Sam Houston State, are you kidding me.
Still got you and the family in my prayers brother!

Thanks for your prayers; please say a lot of prayers for the other person on this thread who is also facing a tough battle. Yes, I am in pain but refused narcotics because of the potential for addiction from long term use. The neurosurgeon said that with therapy the whole process would take about 5 months. No way! I'm not wasting my time lying around listening to my fingernails grow; I have too much living and loving to do.
Re: All I want for Christmas....
All I want for Christmas is for my wife, my family, my friends, and all my friends I've shared thoughts, arguments, and giggles with on this board to have a safe, healthy, rewarding, and fun life not only now or in 2010, but for as long as the man upstairs allows the candle to stay lit.
Elnut, best wishes for speedy healing and treatment that helps you enjoy life more and longer. When the surgeon says 50/50 he meant he expects you to be around 50 years with 50 beers a week!
Bug, same-same. Just cause we argue like a pair of rabid Raccoons doesn't mean I'd ever wish ya personal harm. Tough road ahead I read, so my best wishes all goes smoothly and successfully. Okay, here's the deal. When you get better in the near future and its all behind you, you can write a post and call me a smuck, and I promise to agree with ya (once.......only once). After that we're gloves off again, cause it really is more fun that way. ;)
(PS-I'd also like my pontoons to stop leaking because I'm not certified or checked out on submarines).

Prayers for you bud. I know it's been a rough go around for you and yours. I wish you the best.
Re: All I want for Christmas....
You all have no clue at how much time I spend on this site and the other fishing sites that I am involved in. I really appreciate the comments and prayers. I talked with my surgeon today and it looks like February at the earliest now for my surgery. When he is telling me that of my 24 surgeries, 22 of them takes 5 years for the body to totally heal from them and I have had 13 of these in the past 26 months. He tells me that the longer I wait the better my odds and would love for me to wait until mid next year but I just can't wait that long. Tired of the feeding tube, tired of sitting at home and not being able to work, tired of watching my wife go to work every day and not me. Been working since I was 14 and never took a handout in my life but with only working 5 months in the past 3 years and it looks like it will be another 10-12 months before I am able to go back to work, not much light at the end of the tunnel. Here it is 5:30 and I have been up since 2am. Got right at 45 hours sleep in the past 25 days, yes, averaging about 1:45 minutes a night sleep. Pretty much tired of being sick, tired of bandages, tired of hospitals and doctors, tired of it all. Now that I am done with my pitty party, what I intened to say is I really appreciate all you fellas. Even though I have not been able to fish as much as I want the past 3 years, this site and the others keeps me busy and I love reading the posts. Thanks again and Bug, I hope all goes well with your upcoming surgery. Hope that it fixes all your problems in your back and you can live a normal life after recovering. Do what the doctors and physical therapy people tell you and heres to hoping all goes well. Prayers sent now and will be sent until you are better.
