I can see where Meyer is coming from or at least what I percieve anyway. He said he's trying to be a good father, husband and then a coach but it grows increasingly difficult. The pressures of todays coaches to win especially at the level of Florida football is off the charts. It's affecting the mans life and health adversly and it seems he has his priorities in the correct order. I can certainly see where a guy could have a coulda, shoulda, woulda moment and say something and then retract it.
Now Brett Favre is just a drama King always has been. I don't dislike the guy but it has and always will be about Brett to Brett, you can count on that. He's up there right now causing trouble telling the coach how to run the team, he has a serious history with this. I think Meyer deserves some slack with the health issues and family issues this entails, just my humble opinion.
If they ask Bagdad Bobby Petrino he'd be on a plane by noon. That guy coaches where they pay more money, that is the bottom line with the Petrino brothers.
Let's pull this thread back up in about 2 years and see what he's doing...............
Hasn't he now said that he's basically taking a leave of absence during this upcoming off season and will be back coaching next year's team?
Sound's like a non-story to me.
I like the guy (gator fan) and like what he has done at Florida but I don't trust 100% of what anyone is sports claims. His health and family should be the main focus but reality is winning pays the bills.
My pessimistic side says the awesome team he has had for years is about to disappear. Tebow, Coop and the meat of defense is gone so he has to rebuild like a madman and possibly tarnish his stellar record.
I think he had a panic attack and spoke to soon and why in the world do it before the Bowl game? Mr Tim_T whats your insight on why a coach would do that??
Yea Mr Tipton how bout some of that inside scoop of yours???

I'm not Tim but thought I would insert a bit of what I read today. Meyer has known since 2000 that he has an arachnoid cyst in his head and has neglected his health. Stress causes it to fill with additional spinal fluid making it extremely painful. He was taken to the hospital after the SEC game and later said that he wanted to take some time off to get his priorities straightened out that he had neglected both his family and his health.
No scoop on this one folks, I am honestly as lost as the next person. This time of year makes me miss being a member of the sports media though!

Well his family definitely knows they come first since the words "resigned" were replaced with "leave of absence" and "in my gut I think I'll be coaching at the start of next season"
Aha now we know:
