Re: How much snow will we get
Mark, did you ever make ice cream out of snow when you were a child? I did and it was delicious. I would be afraid to try it now; pollution has ruined another one of the simple pleasures of life.
This (Thursday) morning our Emergency Weather Alert says we will have 1/2 to 3/4" of ice followed by 1" of wet snow on Friday afternoon. Friday night we will have significant snow accumulations of 4-8 inches. They are warning us of hazardous road conditions, downed trees, and power outages; specifically mentioned thick ice accumulation on power lines.
It sounds like a replay of the snow storm we had about a month ago. Some of the people here were without power, phones, and water for about four weeks. We were blessed and were without for only about three days.
Good luck Bug that sounds really bad. That ice business is no good at all.
Re: How much snow will we get
Man this snow deal at the end of the week has got these weather people around here in a lather. They are excited as chickens after June bugs, especially that John Belski. I've never seen a full grown man get that Giddy over snowfall, lol.
I'm saying 2.5 inches here in the Louisville metro area. South of E-Town I'm saying 3 to 6 inches. Farther south you go maybe 6 or 7 inches.
What's your guess for your area and we'll compare notes after the white blanket of death falls on us.
I'm expecting right around 2" here in NE Louisville, but I wouldn't mind a few more. And yeah, Belski gets excited about weather, but IMHO he's the most reliable weatherman we've got. When we had that snow storm in February of '98 most of them were saying we'd get 8 or 10" or so, based on the computer models, but Belski kept saying he thought we'd get a lot more than that. We ended up with 22" on the ground at one point.

I like him to I was just kinda kidding around. I will say this he has to be right on some of these big snows because he always predicts more totals than the other two. He started off on this deal on his blog saying he wouldn't be surprised if we got 6 to 12 or up to 15 inches on this deal, when nobody else was saying it. The man loves snow, lol. To each his own, I personally wouldn't get my feelings hurt if it never snowed again in my lifetime but that's me, some people love the stuff I hate it. I bet he's singing the blues about now, lol.
Re: How much snow will we get
If we get so much as a trace it's to much for me.
Re: How much snow will we get
Update
Here we go boys, now they are saying it's gonna go more north and the Northern Ky area could be looking at a 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 situation. The Central Ky region into Lexington could be looking at 6 to 8 inches of snow. Southern Ky could see 12 to 14 inches of snow.
I got a bad feeling about this one, it's growing into a monster and it's starting growl.

Where are you seeing this? The Lexington Area's resident Chicken Little (AKA Bill Meck) still says it will likely be just a dusting much from Lexington northward.
Here is a quote from the udated blog he posted around noon today:
"I-64 corridor, including Lexington, still hang loose…there will be some snow, but may end more in the nuissance category…"

I get it off Wave3.com and John Belski's blog. He is getting tighter than a banjo string right now, lol. I guess I'm worse than he is with this stuff, lol. Something to talk about I guess, Lord I'll be glad when we pick up here at work............................

What I can't understand is that Bill Meck is usually in the studio doing a snow dance and he's keeping it real low key on this one. Maybe he's been burned too many times.
(it's slow for me at work today too. Wish I'd taken off and gone fishing!)
Re: How much snow will we get
ok there is nice white fluffy snow and then there is a freaking blizzard which I got caught in. It is a white out on the road and you have to drive so slow I am lucky I didnt stall. Wow havent seen one like this in awhile. The wind nearly knocked me over trying to clean off my car. Just nasty when it cut through to the bone. Weirdest thing is they didnt forecast it and it came out of nowhere. Glad I am home now and not going out again. I think I am ready to head to California. Hey Mark want me to drop you in Arizona on the way westward. lol:D

Our Severe Weather Alert has just changed from the 4-8 inches, I first posted, to 5-9 inches OR MORE. This thing is not looking good for my area.
Re: How much snow will we get
Bring it on!!!! ATV in the streets!!! I'll post some of the cyclone zookies on there so you can see them.
Re: How much snow will we get
After looking at all of the radars and other pertinent information, I am predicting a light dusting or up to 16-inches! :-)
