Re: Obama and the Dems just lost Nevada
the right should have kept their mouth shut on the vegas subject.
FYI This isn't coming from the right. It's Democrats and Independants.
Goodman, an Independent who left the Democratic Party, was similarly steamed a year ago when Obama said in a speech that Wall Street bankers receiving bailout money should not take trips to Las Vegas "on the taxpayers' dime."
The mayor was not the only Nevada official to fire away at the president yesterday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the entire congressional delegation sent word to the White House that tourism is the struggling city's lifeblood, and rebukes from the commander-in-chief won't help bring the local economy back from the recession.

Didn't he end up issuing an apology back then? You'd think he would have learned.

I think that's what the mayor meant when he said Obama was a slow learner.
Everyone here knows I am anti Obama, but I just don't see the problem with what he said:
"Obama rubbed quite a few Nevadans the wrong way Tuesday when he suggested rolling the dice on the Vegas Strip wasn’t the wisest move “when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It's time your government did the same."
Perhaps that’s not such bad advice. After all, who would suggest gambling with your college tuition?"
Tim-
You are exactly right, it was really good advice...the only problem is it isn't his role, as President of the USA, to try and tell people how and when to spend their money. I'm sick of this government trying to tell us what to do all the time. They are the ones that WE should be telling what to do! IMHO.
By the way, my thermostat has stayed at a very comfortable 70 degrees all winter long...........take that Obama!

Re: Obama and the Dems just lost Nevada
Here is what the Las Vegas mayor had to say about President Obama's remarks.
"I guess you've all seen the president's remarks or read about the president's remarks, well I've got some remarks of my own. I was back in Washington, D.C. about two weeks ago, going up and down the halls of the capitol telling people about our economy here, trying to get them to be sympathetic to what we're trying to accomplish, then I have to read what President Obama said.
"He has a real psychological hang up about the entertainment capitol of the world. An apology won't be acceptable this time, I don't know where his vendetta comes from but we're not going to let him make his bones by lambasting Las Vegas, that's why (the press) is here today.
"He didn't learn his lesson the first time, but when he hurt our economy by his ill conceived rhetoric, we didn't think it would happen again, but now that it has I want to assure you, when he comes I'll do everything I can to give him the boot back to Washington and to visit his failures back there.
"I gotta tell you this, everybody says I shouldn't say it, but I gotta tell you the way it is. This president is a real slow learner."
Gotta give the Mayor a big thumbs up. I can honestly say I have never seen a more inept President. Just can't keep his mouth shut. Ya, I know what he was getting at but he gets so wrapped up trying to work a crowd into a frenzy he just loses control of common sense. I wonder if that what he learned from all those years going to Rev. Wrights church. Oh he wasn't listening all those years....:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Yep two thumbs up for sure. I am amazed that Barry would single out Vegas or any other industry when he can't do his own job. It's gone to his head how great he thinks he is and attacking people even allies shows a huge weakness is his leadership abilities...he ain't got any!
Wonder if Harry Reid feels the sting of Barry yet? Oh well Reid is history after the elections anyway.
