Re: Barren River Lake
Even though I haven't tried in a few years, I used to hit the hybrids in the spring runs up Skaggs. We would troll no. 5 to 7 shadraps(sometimes jerkbaits) across points from the Narrows up. The old roadbeds at peter's creek and statepark also did well. Filled the livewells this way a few times. Just slow trolling 20 yards or so behind boat. I've been told rattle traps around baileys campground do well also.
About how fast would you troll? With your outboard or trolling motor? Sounds like something I might try this spring, that is if the water is ever decent up in Skaggs with all the rain. Imagine it will be chocolate milk most the time this spring.

Re: Barren River Lake
Trolled with outboard as slow as it would go, fish usually hit on the points. Did slow turns in a zigzag pattern hugging about 30 yards from the banks. Haven't tried it in a while though, not sure if this still works. Maybe if the temps ever get ABOVE FREEZING!! I'll try again.

Re: Barren River Lake
Water color looked pretty decent Sat. A lot of water going thru the dam and the gulls were really flocking to that spillway.
