Re: lowrance structure scan sonar pictures of fish
There are lots of Lowrance users having problems with water getting into their units. They then have to send them back & lots of them have said they by chance replace them & then they have the same problems. They also say the customer service has hit rock bottom. If you don't believe this look at Bass Boat Central under the Lowrance GPS forum. I can't believe Navico has let Lowrance quality & service get to this point. It's pitiful IMO as they were definitley #1 by far. I've had Lowrance units that were pretty much bullet proof & some have been junk, which can happen with anything. I however have never had a single problem from Humminbird. I just ordered a new 581i for the console the other day for this very reason. Humminbird is also waterproof & absolutley the best customer service of anyone bar none. As stated before it's a matter of preference & both companies side & down imaging are unbelievable. Pick what you have the best faith in period
why did lowrance ss-1 come out on the market with DOWNSCAN on november 23rd and then in late january humminbird came out with a "update to their unit to give the downscan option??? then in febuary claim copywright infrindgement on lowrance???
maybe its cause the lowrance blew them out of the water and they are making millions of dollors ???
its all about the money! now if they put their heads togeather an come up with something inovative to catch our attension an better both products the fisherman is the one who will bennefit rather han argue who made it first right?
I understand your confusion on this. Turns out that Humminbird filled for a patent on their Side Imaging back in late-2006/early-2007, and has been jumping through hoops since then to get their patent approved PROPERLY. We all know how quick the government works. Haha. But anyway, I think January 26ish (yes, a month ago) Humminbird FINALLY got the patent approved, and the next day filled a lawsuit. This can be found on an update on the stock market news page. As far as the Down Scan/Down Imaging deal, Lowrance did come out with it first, but I think Humminbird already had it in the works, and not sure if Navico has a patent on Lowrance's Down Scan, but technically, this evolved out of Side Imaging technology. Sort of a messed up deal.
Re: lowrance structure scan sonar pictures of fish
Why do some guys feel the need to bash the Lowrance if they have Hummingbird???? Waterdog101 didn’t say hey Bassbandit35 or barkleyhawggitter "how’s that hummingbird work on the piece of crap Ranger or piece of crap Bullet, or whatever your boat is did he"? No because he does not care what boat you run he was posting in reference to a picture taken from the Lowrance. He also did not ask what piece of junk truck you pull your boat with Ford, Chevy or Dodge because it is irrelevant.
If you don’t like a brand keep your pie hole shut and post when someone asks about the model you do have or like. I have a Raymarine C120 that does not give me a right to bash a guy asking a question about any brand other than Raymarine.
