I just got back from the Post Office and mailing this letter to Obama, with copies furnished to Pelosi, Reid, McConnell, Bunning and Guthrie.
Mr. President,
Obama said, summing up. "I don't need a poll to know that most Republican voters are opposed to this bill and might be opposed to the kind of compromise we could craft.” "And if we can't," he added, "I think we've got to go ahead and make some decisions, and then that's what elections are for. "
I will not go into the reasons why, but I have been an avid follower of American politics since 1957 when I was 19 years old. I have voted in every General Election since I turned 21 and that includes many by Absentee Ballot during my 23 years of Active Duty with the United States Army and two tours of duty in Viet Nam. I have always registered and considered myself to be an Independent. I have voted for Democrats and Republicans.
I tell you this, because in all that time, I have never seen a President nor a Political party that were so intent on disregarding the will of the American people and I don’t mean just Republicans. Every poll that I have seen over the last year, indicated that, to one degree or another, most Americans, oppose your drive for Socialized Healthcare.
You have done enough to bankrupt our country with all your excessive spending, please stop your drive to add trillions of dollars to an already burgeoning deficit by passing your Healthcare. Besides the fact that it is a terrible system, WE SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD IT. Nor can we afford all of your other excessive socialist spending.
PLEASE STOP BANKRUPTING AMERICA because if you don’t, we will vote you and all of your cronies out of office.

U.S. Army Retired
You were born in 1938? You served starting in 1957 or thereabouts. You are aproximately 72 yrs old.:) How long you been retired?
I was born in 1938, and will be 72 in April. I joined the Army on the 10th of June 1956 (one week after I graduated from High School); retired from the Army 31 August 1979; and retired for good two months after I turned 62 in 2000. The two best things about retirement are taking a nap after lunch, if I want to and I want to most days; and being able to fish during the week and leave the crowed weekend ramps to the poor working stiffs.

Tyme's letter to Congressman Baron Hill
The Honorable Congressman Baron Hill
Dear Congressman Hill,
I have contacted your office in the past concerning the Health Care Bill. I know your office follows the polls that conclude that the overwhelming majority of the voters in this wonderful country are opposed to this bill. I am just one more voter opposed to this Bill in question.
I am pleading with you to change your vote to against when this bill comes again to the floor of the House of Representatives. We the People do not desire for the Federal Government to takeover one-sixth of our economy with this ill conceived Health Care Reform Act
Sincerely yours,
I try to stay outta these political conversations, mostly due to my lack of "current events" knowledge, but with the healthcare reform bill coming down the pike I HAVE to watch now. My question, and yes its a "loaded one", to you all is, do any of you know how much of our national debt is held by other countries and who they are? Last time I looked, which was admittedly quite some time ago, our the Japaneese owned something like 15% of our debt and other countries owned not only large amounts of our debt, but an astonishing amount of our LAND too!!!
I was just wondering if anyone on here who follows that kind of stuff could update me on how "bad" it is now though. Thanks and GREAT letter Grump. What upset me the most in reading your posts is the president did not take the time to respond to a man who not only voices valid opinions, but fought to protect these rights (like many others on here) that he is trying to take away!!! Then again that's what "the people" get for allowing a man who can't REALLY prove his birth certificate is valid to be president, just hope they put this off till we can get rid of him:).

Cra97, Rob for an explanation and chart of US debt go to the Wikipedia site below:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt
This as good a explantion and is as up to date as anything. Be sure to go down to the chart of which countries own the US debt. I hadn;'t checked it in a long time and was surprised how little is now owed to "Oil Exporters" and how much is now owed to Japan. We have owed our soul AND LAND to China for a long time.

No offense to this thread or anyone posting on this thread...but the subject matter is starting to get on my nerves, actually it's starting to tick me off! I've known for quite some time about some of our United States soil being owned by foriegn countries. In my opinion this is just sad. It's been going on for a long time, I guess I tend to forget about it because it doesn't get mentioned very often. And we're not just talking about land that say a Toyota factory sits on either...we're talking about other buildings and land too, like the Sears Tower in Chicago for instance, if I'm not mistaken I believe a foriegn country owns the Sears Tower. There are others but I don't know what they are.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm of the opinion that China is whoopin' our tails without even firing a shot! Kind of makes a fella want to spit some Beechnut in that dude's eye!
As part of aiding foriegn countries I can't blame people for buying the foreign vehicles like they do, the prices are lower, the warranties are there to back them up, they seem to be well engineered, etc...But for me, I'll keep on buying from GM, Ford or Chrysler no matter how many foriegns parts they're made of.
Chub, I hope this gets on the nerves of everyone in this country. If the American people don't wake up pretty soon, China is going to own a whole lot more than the Sears Tower. Although China is building up its military to be one of the strongest in the world, the reason is not go fight the United States. They don't have to worry about fighthing us, we are selling our country to them economically.

To the more chronologically challenged members here, remember when Soviet Premiere Kruschev said "We will bury you." ?
Well, the Chinese cannot pronounce the letter R very well so they just dropped it and said "We will buy you.":D
Good one Tyme, unfortunately it is also very true.
