Re: Fluorocarbon Line
I like what Smuckey said. I agree totally with him. I use flouro with everything but top water. With top water I use mono and braid.
I'm in the same place. If I'm C-Rig fishing in Florida I might use braid but generally I fish all my bottom contact baits on FC.
I did not arrive at this state quickly or because of what I read but rather over time based on feel.
I went through at least 5 brands of FC before I found one worth fishing. That is Gamma FC. Now that they are selling that business I am trying Trilene 100% FC. Too early for me to comment on Trilene.
When appying a knot with FC avoid the Palamar know; this is a known way to lower knot strength on FC. I use if for all other lines though.

Re: Fluorocarbon Line
I use Suffix braid for the main line (30 to 60lb) and either Seagar or Vicious fluoro for the leader. The Vicious seems to have more memory and feels larger in diameter. I use two different knots, the Seagar and one that shall remain nameless. Never had a failure. The key when tying is get the knot sloppy wet.
Last year I used a swivel on my crankin rig to avoid using up leader material when I knew I be changing baits often. I broke 3 swivels on fish, not on hookset, just getting them to the boat. So that will change. I'm a swivel free zone now.

Re: Fluorocarbon Line
I use XPS Flouro for almost everything. Mono for topwater, XPS braid for jigging in heavy cover. Works great just remember to re-tie your line every now and then, and inspect it often for damage.

Re: Fluorocarbon Line
Seaguar invisx or abrasx , retie often , especially when dragging over rocks , or any cover for that matter . you learn to inspect line for nicks ,
i fish atleast once a week , usually twice , before i even put boat in water , i strip 8-10 feet of line off and retie . due to dragging/hopping a
jig in heavy brush and rocks from previous trip . this has improved my flouro. experience . hope it does yours .
p.s. i wouldn't put vanish or transition line on my son's blue gill pole ! no joke
