Census or Privacy invasion

got mine in the mail today answered question #1 and sent it back to them and i was not sure about that answer because it only march 15 and i dont really know who going to be living with me ON april 1 2010 :D

If they axe me my race I'm gonna say Bulgarian just for S's and G's.


To answer the original poster YES, I have always felt it is somewhat a invasion of privacy.

That's how many I got to Billy. Not counting the dog and the cat which I think should count as dependents cause I gotta feed and take care of them rascals.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one risking the $100 fine by not answering all of the questions.

I agree with Road Toad, the video in the first post is a contrived pack of lies and most of what he talks about is not anywhere on the form. I think this thread is a case of paranoia feeding on itself and I wonder how many of you have read the ACTUAL 2010 Census form/questionaire?

The form explains, in detail, the reason why each question is asked and tells what the information will be used for. When large numbers of people in a particular areas fail to, or refuse to, answer the questions all you are really doing is hurting your own community. Federal, State and local organizations use the Census data in determing a multitude of programs, from Congressional Representatives all the way done to how much money is allocated for such things as food stamps, Secion 8 Housing, schools, and so on. Refuse to answer the questions if you want, but don't complain later when you lose your job and there is no money to pay for you Unemployment insurance.

I have no idea why you all have such a problem with this. Whatever, I filled mine out last night, no big deal. It isn't asking how much you make or how often you have sex or how much you beat your wife. I mean what is the problem, I bet you don't have a problem writing down dependants on your tax forms for a rebate do you.

LOL last week we got an envelope in the mail from the census bureau. Thought it was the form, instead it was a letter telling us we will be getting the form. How crazy is that?

My biggest problem is with the racism questions.

I think you mean RACE questions, not RACISM.

I have been thinking about setting off the security system alarm when the census taker rings my doorbell. lol

What kind of answers do you expect to get at houses of prostitution? How are you going to round up homeless people to get their information? How do you handle forms at homes where they can't read and write? Can I answer the questions in sign language? On the question where they ask my race, can I answer "Heinz 57?" What will you do if you have to take census at Ugly Cheryl's house and she answers the door dressed in her usual attire...naked?

Why do they need to know if people have a mortgage on their houses (I don't)? I haven't read anything that said the government will make their payments for them. I know you will enjoy your new job; you may want to practice "Duck and run." lol
