Shimano and carrot stix both the same over the counter warranty. However, the $50 isn't too bad when you consider the cost of a new GLX. It stinks to have to pay it, but I am glad they offer something. I know I wouldn't be able to buy a new GLX if mine broke.
No guys you know what is bad !!! The fact you pay that much for something that breaks so easily. Just ask around your tackle dealer that sells loomis rods. They have more returns than any other rods. For what they cost they are junk. Don't get me wrong they feel great and perform as long as they are in one piece. But it is not if they break but when...... How long would you use a reel or how many more would you buy is a better question if you paid 250 -300 dollars for and it messed up. Then if you went to send it back they wanted 50 dollars to replace it. NO you guys would start a campaign to boycott the reel company.
I tell u this I won't buy another one. I'll buy a cumara way before another glx.

I havent seen many high modulus rods that dont break, its the price you pay for lightness and sensitivity. I've broke a few GLX's but cant complain about the 50 dollars.....how many rod companys will replace a $350 rod because I closed my truck door on it? Shimano is the only other one I've seen with the "no questions asked " replacement and I too think that will change....and yes I know Shimano owns Loomis
First off, the carrot stix rods (not the gold one) break twice as much as a G-Loomis.
Most of the breaks with G-Loomis rod occur because of a stress crack in the rod. Most of the stress cracks are due to simply not hooking your bait back in the keeper, with the reduced weight and sensitivity you sacrifice the wear and tear that a rod can take, but if you take care of your rods with a few simple measures you can prolong the rod use.
I may break all of them this coming weekend but I have never broken a G-Loomis and can speak for quite a few people who have never broken one.
