It is illegal in Ky at this time to have a short fish in your boat. The KDFW has said and this info was given to our, the KBFN tourney dir, and the KDFW said that if any short fish were brought to the scales that a ticket would be issued. The law sets a length limit on certin lakes and these lenght limits need to be aheared too, so if a person is in doubt then throw it back. If a club or circut gives you a courtsey ck then they could be breaking the law, as it is illegal to have an undersized fish in your possetion, just letting you know that it is not a good idea to do courtsey checks do to this law. Just do not want to see any trail get into hot water with the KDFW, also they are in need of MONEY so they are checking everything.
oh ok i didnt know that, i appreciate that.
Your welcome.you have a good trail going and hate to see anyone get in trouble. The kdfw is strapped for cash so it is no holds barred now, been checked more times this year than ever before. Keep up the good trail barry

It has ALWAYS been illegal to have a short fish in your live well . That is what the size limit rule pertains to. If a game warden is at the weigh in the person bringing the fish to the scales is the one that gets the ticket not the tourney officials
In the past on Thursday nites on lake cumberland a fish and wildlife officer used to watch to keep track of how the fishing was. He has written some tickets , but not to the officials but to the fishermen The bfl still does courtesy checks and most of the time the game wardens are there
