Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
McCain (who wasn't my GOP member of choice) tried to jump out of that banter back and forth and it drove me crazy! He let stuff roll off his back and made Palin be quiet (to an extent) and I think it cost him the election.
Your right about the division but it's never gonna stop. Politics is a game and it sukks you in so much that you do get upset and to the point of fighting. The Dem party raised the bar by nominating a black man. The country voted him in because we basically have two choices (parties) and the GOP was hurting in the public opinion polls. The mud slinging was so good from the Dem side that McCain actually did pretty good considering what he was associated with. That tore into alot of people and empowered others so what happened? You get the black panthers, louie farakhan, jerimiah wright (the white pastor forgot his name??) and other extreme racial wacko's getting air time on tv which pissed off myself and others of the double standard. Add into that the Muslim connection obama has and you just polarized the country even more.
You can say what you want but I'm 100% convinced that the Dems used Obama because of his skin color not because of his skills at running a state or his proven decision making skills because he had none of either. The divide we now face is more than politics it's racial and that alone is bad enough.
Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
Man, I hope it dosn't rain this weekend. I think I'll send a e-mail to Obama and ask him to hold off on the rain till monday when i am back to work......:)
Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
I really dont know the whole story about this oil spill except for all the pictures of it on the news. I dont think any President is responsible for it and I place all the blame on the oil companies. Does anyone really know what caused the explosion and why they couldnt cap it immediately. These companies are rich, rich and rich and should have emergency plans in effect when this sort of thing happens. I dont understand why they couldnt cap it. They shouldnt be drilling out there if they cant control the oil should an explosion happen. Then you could buy your oil from Canada and not one of those middle eastern countries.;)
Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
The whole reason I posted the article is JUST THAT Big_Gills. This administration, as well as the past administration gave the drilling company a "safety pass". HAD they NOT done that and had they ACTUALLY inspected the **** platform, they may have realized that the safeguards were inadequate. Instead we have a SERIOUS disaster that they took 5 days to recognize.
Bottom LINE........rules are rules and the past two Administrations SKIRTED the rules.
Bottom BOTTOM LINE.......Obama is supposed to be so much BETTER aware of this GARBAGE and HATES Oil, yet his admin gave this group a PASS.
Personally the LIBS on this site should be DISGUSTED......he ran on a platform that was supposed to be "HARD" on Oil, and everything else BAD for the environment. HE Snowed you guys just as bad as everyone else.
BUT HEY.......I guess that is OK and I guess that is WHY you defend him here.

Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
In that case, you make a very good point George. The current and past Governments were responsible for doing safety checks and they didnt do it properly and this horrible mess happens then something has to be done. Whatever Dept of the Govt that is responsible for this needs to be disciplined and whichever persons were responsbile for the safety inspectations need to be fired. Obama is the one in power now and it will be his responsibility to clean this mess up and ensure it doesnt happen again.
Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
Even if Obama had said, "Hell no, no pass for you," I don't think it would have prevented this blowout. BP wouldn't have said, "OK, if you don't think it's safe, we'll just stop this drilling we're making billions on." No, they would have fought it in court, and most likely would have still been drilling regardless. I truly don't believe Obama was in a position to prevent it. That's why I defended him. If people accuse Bush or any other president of something that's not their fault, I'll defend them, too. It's kind of like watching sports; I hate to see a bad call, even if it favors my team. If you want to criticize his response, that's fair - premature, IMO, but fair - but I don't think blaming the actual spill on him is.

The platform was not the reason the oil well blew up. IT WAS CAUSED BY A BUBBLE OF METHANE GAS THAT GREW LARGER AND LARGER AS IT SURFACED THROUGH THE PIPE. I'm not defending Obama; he didn't cause the explosion and, politics aside, it's stupid to blame him.
I guess I'm living in an earlier century but I still drive a car that requires both oil and gas in order for it to transport me from Point A to Point B. It just won't run by feeding it grass or corn and giving it a bucket of water every 25 miles.
You really shouldn't go off half cocked.
Re: The OIL disaster in the Gulf is Obama's FAULT......
This is so funny. Lets throw some gasoline on here; Obama hates oil like G.W. cares about fiscal conservatism! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, aahhh, ha, ha, ha. They call it pandering to your base. And the Dems ran Obama primarily because of the stark contrast to Mr. McCain (who I wish would of won the Primary in 2000, wouldn't we all be better off? And while i'm there Kerry, what a joke he was) and Hillary, both being perceived as part of the whole business as usual thing, which we all know, being career politicians, they are. More importantly I hope this "top hat" idea works better than the, what did they call it, you know the 5-story failure?

Top 10 Semi-sober Reasons for the spill:
1. Oil prices were down, we needed a disruption in supply to get the price per barrel back up.
2. Gas prices were down, see note 1 above.
3. The beaches in the gulf had been cleaned up by the last Hurricanes, and it was time to lubricate them again. Nobody wants a rusty beach.
4. The dolphins fins were starting to squeak, and its too hard to spray WD-40 on individual porposes.
5. BP hadn't been in the headlines for awhile, and notorius is still a form of notariety.
6. Intent was to stimulate the economy of the oil clean up industry.
7. Intent was to provide incentive for Congress to appropriate more money for the Coast Guard.
8. Oil companies want to drill in Alaska, and continental US environmentally protected areas. So the spill sends the message its safer ecologically to drill on the mainland instead of at sea.
9. BP wanted to be sure we had something to talk about on Fishin.com.
10. It was a plot hatched in KY to drive more demand for coal, and to steer salt water anglers to Cumberland for Striper gigs.
